Summary:
The VMI Specialist troubleshoots operational issues, developing processes, and coordinating training for end-users. Responsibilities include managing performance through reporting, assisting with VMI start-ups, sourcing products, providing technical support, and managing inventory and warehouse operations. The position also requires monitoring supplier performance, completing reports, participating in process improvement teams, and visiting DXP sites to improve efficiencies, along with other duties as assigned.
Responsibilities of the VMI Specialist include, but are not limited to:
  • Servicing internal customers by troubleshooting operational and system issues
  • Developing, documenting, and implementing processes
  • Coordinating and executing training sessions for end-users in either web-based, one-on-one, or class settings
  • Managing and measuring operational performance through reporting and communicating with end-users
  • Special projects that may include working in a team environment to efficiently start-up a new VMI's
  • Sourcing product
  • Provide technical assistance
  • Inventory management - setting reorder points and reorder quantities
  • Warehouse management
  • Maintenance of items in inventory management system
  • Monitor quality and delivery performance of suppliers.
  • Complete and monitor reports including inventory, procurement, and supplier performance metrics.
  • Participate in Special Projects as directed, to include process improvement teams
  • Visiting DXP sites to analyze and improve operational efficiencies
  • Other duties as assigned by manager

Qualifications of the VMI Specialist include, but are not limited to:
  • 5 year's experience in industrial distribution
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to multitask and meet deadlines with a sense of urgency and accuracy
  • Team player mentality
  • Great interpersonal and motivational skills
  • Ideal candidates will have experience with at least one of DXP's product lines
  • High level of customer service skills
