Required SkillsJavaScript, build tools, module bundlersHTML, CSS, JavaScript, frameworks
Work EnvironmentDevelopment, testing, and build processesDesign, coding, testing, deployment
Industry UsageUsed by developers to optimize workflowsUsed by web developers to create websites

Vite is a modern build tool focused on fast development server startup and optimized build processes, while a Web Developer creates and maintains websites and web applications. Vite enhances a web developer’s workflow but is not a role itself. Understanding both helps in web development projects, with Vite serving as a tool to improve efficiency for web developers.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Vite Developer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Vite Developer, you need strong JavaScript/TypeScript skills, familiarity with modern frontend frameworks (like Vue or React), and experience with build tools and bundlers. Proficiency in using Vite's configuration, plugins, and integration with tools like ESLint and Prettier is typically required. Problem-solving, adaptability, and effective communication help developers excel in fast-paced, collaborative environments. These competencies ensure efficient project setup, quick debugging, and smooth workflow integration essential for modern web development.

What are some common challenges developers face when working with Vite in a team setting?

When working with Vite in a collaborative environment, developers may encounter challenges such as ensuring consistent configuration across different team members’ setups and integrating Vite with legacy tools or complex monorepos. Coordinating plugin usage and maintaining compatibility with various frameworks or third-party dependencies can also require clear communication. To address these issues, teams should establish shared configuration files, document build steps, and use version control effectively to avoid discrepancies in development and build processes.

What is Vite?

Vite is a modern build tool and development server for web projects, particularly popular for JavaScript frameworks like Vue.js, React, and Svelte. It offers lightning-fast development startup and hot module replacement by leveraging native ES modules in the browser and using efficient bundling for production. Vite is designed to improve developer experience with faster feedback loops and optimized build performance, making it a popular choice for modern frontend development.

What is a Vite job?

A Vite job typically refers to roles related to Vite, a fast front-end build tool and development server. Jobs in this area often involve working with front-end frameworks like Vue.js, React, or Svelte to optimize development workflows. Responsibilities may include configuring Vite, improving build performance, and troubleshooting issues. Understanding modern JavaScript, ES modules, and bundling techniques is essential for such roles.

Job description

Company Introduction

At Bot Auto, we are revolutionizing the transportation of goods with our cutting-edge autonomous trucks, enhancing the quality of life for communities around the globe. With the agility of a start-up and the wisdom of seasoned experts, Bot Auto boasts a team that has achieved numerous world-firsts and unparalleled innovations. United by a shared vision, we create miracles and propel the future of transportation. Join us and transform your dreams into reality.

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Software Engineer, Autonomous Traffic Control to build the systems and interfaces that connect our autonomous fleet to the people and intelligence that support it. This is a full-stack role with deep frontend domain expertise. Your flagship project is Autonomous Traffic Control (ATC) - the platform through which our autonomy vehicles request and receive Traffic Advice, environmental intelligence, and human assistance. You will also contribute to operations and data platforms across internal developer and operation platforms, shipping polished, reliable, real-time tools used by ATC controllers, fleet operators, and vehicle drivers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and build full-stack features for Autonomous Traffic Control (ATC), enabling controllers to review vehicle state reports and issue Traffic Advice (reroute, wait, retry, dispatch, escalate) in real time.
  • Develop responsive, data-rich web interfaces using modern frontend frameworks (React, TypeScript, Vite, Tailwind), with strong attention to UX, real-time data, and operational reliability.
  • Build the backend services, APIs, and event-driven/streaming integrations that power ATC and connect it to the autonomous fleet and external live feeds (weather, DOT/traffic, operator inputs).
  • Contribute to operations and visualization tools across internal developer & operation platforms and the driver-facing on-vehicle application.
  • Visualize fleet state, geospatial data (maps, polygons, routes), and telemetry to give operators clear, actionable situational awareness.
  • Partner with product, autonomy, and operations teams to translate operational workflows (SOPs) into intuitive, dependable software.
  • Own features end to end - from design and implementation through testing, deployment, and operation in production.
  • Uphold engineering best practices with clean, maintainable, well-tested code and thoughtful API and component design.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of full-stack software engineering experience, with demonstrated frontend domain expertise
  • Strong proficiency with modern frontend frameworks and tooling (React, TypeScript, and a build system such as Vite; CSS frameworks such as Tailwind)
  • Solid backend skills in one or more of Python, Go, Java, or Node.js, including building and consuming REST and streaming APIs
  • Strong eye for UX, performance, and building reliable real-time interfaces
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience building real-time, operations-critical, or mission-control style applications (live dashboards, monitoring, command-and-control)
  • Experience with geospatial/mapping visualization (e.g., Mapbox, deck.gl, Leaflet) and large-scale data visualization
  • Familiarity with event-driven architectures and streaming (WebSockets, MQTT, NATS, Kafka)
  • Experience with containerized deployment (Docker, Kubernetes) and cloud platforms (AWS)
  • Interest in autonomous systems, robotics, or transportation
  • Experience collaborating closely with operations teams and turning workflows into product
