Snowflake DMF Consultant (Data observability) - Contract - Remote (US)
We are seeking a hands-on Snowflake Consultant with strong experience building Data Metric Functions (DMFs) to support data observability and reliability initiatives. This role will focus on implementing data quality, freshness, and volume monitoring in Snowflake, along with integrating alerting and incident workflows across monitoring platforms.
Responsibilities:
  • Design, implement, and maintain Snowflake Data Metric Functions (DMFs) on critical datasets
  • Build and manage observability checks for data freshness, volume, validity, schema changes, and anomalies
  • Leverage Snowflake and dbt metadata to support monitoring, diagnostics, and root cause analysis
  • Integrate data quality signals with monitoring and alerting tools such as Splunk and OpsGenie
  • Optimize DMF performance and Snowflake compute usage for cost and efficiency
  • Develop basic dashboards or reports to provide visibility into data health and reliability
  • Document solutions and support knowledge transfer to internal teams

Qualifications/Skills:
  • Strong hands-on experience with Snowflake, including Data Metric Functions (DMFs)
  • Advanced SQL skills with experience in production data environments
  • Experience working with dbt, including models, metadata, and tests
