Your responsibilities include updating the setup, fixtures, and layout of each display based on sales data and seasonal changes to maximize profitability. Other duties include monitoring competitors, altering floor plans based on what is and is not selling, and developing signage. You also oversee employees and create and direct training programs to ensure workers maintain visual standards.

What skills do successful visual managers have?

Job description

About Us:

Fathom is a leader in advanced manufacturing, specializing in prototyping to low volume production manufacturing. We go beyond AI-driven quoting systems by delivering a white-glove experience, deep manufacturing expertise, and customer intimacy. We are looking for a highly skilled visual communications professional who can elevate the Fathom brand, bring complex manufacturing stories to life, and create compelling experiences that support marketing, sales, and business growth.

Role Overview:

Fathom is looking for a hands-on visual communicator who can turn business objectives, ideas, and complex technical information into compelling graphics and multimedia content. This person will not only create visual assets but also help define the visual approach behind them, ensuring that Fathom’s campaigns, sales materials, digital experiences, and brand communications are cohesive, engaging, and aligned with business goals.

The Visual Communications Designer will independently seek out context, collaborate with stakeholders and subject-matter experts, review existing materials, and develop visual concepts without waiting for finished content or step-by-step creative direction. The right candidate is curious, proactive, fast, and comfortable taking a project from an initial business need through visual strategy, concept development, and final production.

What You’ll Create

  • Visual concepts and creative approaches that translate business objectives, campaign strategies, and technical information into cohesive, engaging brand experiences.
  • Lead-generation and sales assets, including infographics, digital ads, presentations, brochures, case studies, landing pages, email graphics, social content, direct mail, tradeshow materials, and other campaign visuals.
  • Original photography and video content at Fathom facilities, events, and customer-facing activities.
  • Videos from concept through completion, including planning, shooting, editing, motion graphics, captions, and final publishing.
  • WordPress landing pages and campaign pages using approved brand and conversion best practices.
  • Reusable templates, design standards, and visual systems that improve efficiency, strengthen brand consistency, and elevate the quality of Fathom’s communications across teams and channels.
  • Recommendations for evolving Fathom’s visual identity and improving how the brand is expressed across campaigns, presentations, digital experiences, events, photography, video, and sales materials.

What Success Looks Like

  • You independently seek out context, interview subject-matter experts, review existing materials, and translate complex information into clear, engaging visuals.
  • You work with urgency, manage multiple priorities, and consistently deliver polished work on deadline.
  • You think beyond individual deliverables and consider how each project contributes to a cohesive, recognizable, and elevated Fathom brand.
  • You connect visual decisions to business objectives, audience needs, campaign strategy, and the intended user experience.
  • You identify opportunities to improve Fathom’s visual communications and proactively recommend stronger approaches rather than simply executing what has been requested.
  • You can present and explain your creative recommendations to stakeholders, balancing brand consistency, business needs, audience engagement, and practical execution.
  • You collaborate easily across marketing, sales, operations, and technical teams and are comfortable working directly with people throughout the organization.
  • You are a utility player who jumps in where needed, including on projects that may fall outside a narrowly defined role.
  • You bring energy and confidence to in-person collaboration, photo and video shoots, events, and conversations with internal stakeholders.

Required Experience & Skills:

  • 5-7 years of professional experience creating visual communications for a marketing team.
  • Ability to take a loose idea, technical concept, or business objective and independently develop the visual strategy, creative concept, and final execution without requiring completed copy or fully developed creative direction.
  • Advanced in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Premiere Pro, etc.).
  • Hands-on experience building and updating pages in WordPress.
  • Advanced photography and videography skills.
  • Experience in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment with strong attention to detail and project ownership. Fast, efficient, and detail obsessed. You thrive under deadlines and move with urgency.
  • Experience in B2B marketing; manufacturing, industrial, engineering, or another technical industry is strongly preferred.
  • A strong portfolio demonstrating high-quality visual communications, presentations, campaign creative, photography, and video. The portfolio should show not only polished final work but also the candidate’s ability to translate business objectives, audience needs, or complex information into an effective visual approach. A portfolio will be required as part of the interview process.
  • Ability to work from Fathom’s Hartland, WI office two days per week and travel as business needs require.
