What is a virtual Webflow designer?

A Virtual Webflow Designer is a professional who specializes in designing and building websites using the Webflow platform, working remotely rather than on-site. They handle tasks such as creating visually appealing layouts, developing responsive designs, and implementing interactive features, all within the Webflow environment. These designers often collaborate with clients and teams through online communication tools, providing flexibility and access to global talent. Virtual Webflow Designers are valued for their ability to deliver high-quality web projects efficiently without the need for in-person meetings.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a virtual Webflow designer?

To thrive as a Webflow Developer, you need strong HTML, CSS, and web design skills, often supported by experience with responsive design and a portfolio of completed Webflow projects. Proficiency in the Webflow platform, including CMS functionality, interactions, and integrations with third-party tools, is critical. Outstanding communication, problem-solving abilities, and attention to detail help developers interpret client needs and deliver polished websites. These skills ensure projects are delivered efficiently, match client expectations, and function seamlessly across devices.

What are some common challenges virtual Webflow designers face when collaborating with remote teams?

Virtual Webflow Designers often work closely with clients, developers, and other designers across different time zones, which can make communication and project alignment challenging. Ensuring design consistency and clear handoff of assets is crucial, as miscommunication can lead to delays or rework. Utilizing project management tools, maintaining thorough documentation, and scheduling regular check-ins help overcome these hurdles and foster a collaborative remote work environment.

Job description

About Haven Energy

At Haven, we’re on a mission to modernize the electric grid through the deployment and aggregation of battery storage. Through strategic partnerships with utilities, non-profits, EPCs, and government agencies, we deploy distributed energy resources (DERs) at residential and small C&I sites to build virtual power plants (VPPs) at scale.

We believe that widespread, decentralized solar and storage is essential to a more resilient and sustainable energy future — come join us.

About the role

We're hiring a Senior Product Designer to own the experience design of our digital growth channels. In this role, you will focus on continuously improving the customer journey from first landing on havenenergy.com through checkout. As the dedicated designer for these interactions, you'll develop a deep understanding of our customers’ needs and iterate on how we build trust, drive conversion, and deliver 5-star experiences.

You will partner closely with experience & strategy, product, engineering, and growth teams to deliver measurable impact. We're looking for an acquisition and engagement-minded problem solver who thrives in visual communication, systems thinking, and usability of complex interaction models.

This is a 40-hour-per-week remote role within the United States. We are hiring for a 6-month contract position with the potential to join the team full-time.

What you will do
  • Own product design efforts across Haven’s homeowner-facing experiences, from concept through implementation.

  • Revamp and continuously iterate on havenenergy.com to improve clarity, build trust, and drive battery project adoption

  • Lead the evolution of our quoting flow, our primary lead generator, with a focus on usability and conversion

  • Work with experience & strategy to translate research insights & journey maps into UX workflows and screen designs that adequately solve for user needs.

  • Leverage and further define our UI standards, assisting with the build and maintenance of scalable design and component libraries in Figma

  • Create prototypes to explore interaction patterns and communicate ideas in clear, effective, and innovative ways

  • Experiment with new design tools and AI-assisted technologies to streamline design workflows, generate ideas, and support collaboration with engineering

  • Collaborate with product and engineering to scope work, inform requirements, document and hand off production-ready designs, and review builds to ensure execution meets design intent.

  • Partner with growth and marketing team to analyze performance metrics, define website and product needs and co-develop content strategy.

You’ll be a great fit if you have:
  • 6+ years of experience in product, visual, or experience design

  • Experience designing to optimize acquisition/checkout funnels for high-consideration / high-ticket products or services (e.g. financial products, insurance, vehicle leasing, etc)

  • Extensive UI/UX experience with a strong portfolio that demonstrates both craft and measurable outcomes

  • Experience generating and interpreting quant data alongside qual data to inform design decisions

  • Partnered closely with engineering teams to ensure high-quality execution and attention to detail

  • A proven ability to articulate design decisions clearly and adapt feedback from research and data into actionable improvements

  • A self-starter mindset with the ability to balance product excellence and business impact in a quickly-changing, iterative environment

  • Advanced proficiency in Figma, with the ability to build out production-ready prototypes and design libraries

  • Knowledge of web accessibility standards and best practices, ensuring our platforms are inclusive of all potential visitors

It’s not a requirement, but it would be great if you have:
  • Design systems experience, with the ability to maintain and update design libraries and components within Figma

  • UI animation skills, leveraging tools such as Figma Motion, LottieFiles, or AfterEffects

  • Illustration skills, with the ability to create custom UI illustrations or iconography

  • Familiarity with tools that close the gap between design and engineering, such as Claude Code, Webflow, Cursor, or Framer

  • Expertise in quote building, check-out, or qualification flow experiences

  • Experience driving and facilitating user research or validation testing sessions

  • Collaborated closely with content strategy, UX writing, or marketing teams

  • Designed for chatbot experiences or AI-enabled customer workflows

  • A background in climate tech, consumer tech, or home energy industries
