Job description

Description
A postdoctoral training position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Xinyun (Sherry) Cao, in the Microbiology Department at UT Southwestern Medical Center to study how the transcription complex regulates gene expression in bacteria. Our laboratory Cao Lab has several exciting projects related to unraveling the intricacies of RNA polymerase function and regulation within bacterial pathogens. We utilize a diverse array of methodologies in our research, including advanced techniques such as Cryo-EM, next-generation sequencing (Illumina sequencing), high-throughput screening, in vitro biochemical assays, and bacterial genetics. Candidates with projects aim to study bacterial gene and genomic regulation, the structure and function of transcription complexes, and mechanisms of transcription initiation, elongation, and termination.

Qualifications
Candidates must hold a recent Ph.D. degree and have a background in any of the following areas are encouraged to apply: RNA biology, structural biology, bioinformatics, protein biochemistry, and bacterial genetics.
