Registered Nurse (RN) – Progressive Care Unit (PCU)

Location: Anchorage, AK

Job Type: Contract

Contract Length: 13 Weeks

Shift: 3x12 Night Shift

Job Summary

"Navitas Healthcare, LLC" is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) assignment. The RN will provide specialized care to patients requiring stepdown-level monitoring and treatment. This unit serves a diverse patient population, including cardiac, respiratory, neurological, renal, and medically complex patients transitioning from intensive care.

The ideal candidate will possess strong telemetry, cardiac, respiratory, and acute care nursing skills and be comfortable working in a collaborative Virtual Nursing Model environment.

Required Qualifications
  • Active Alaska RN License required for Auto Offer

  • Pending Alaska License accepted

  • Must complete Alaska RN License application within 48 hours of signing (including fingerprints, application fee, and application submission)

  • Current BLS Certification

  • Current ACLS Certification

  • Current NIHSS Certification

  • Minimum 1 Year of Recent PCU, Stepdown, Telemetry, or Acute Care RN Experience

  • First-Time Travelers Accepted

Responsibilities
  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care.

  • Monitor cardiac, respiratory, neurological, and renal patients.

  • Administer medications, blood products, and IV therapies.

  • Provide telemetry monitoring and recognize changes in patient condition.

  • Manage patients requiring BiPAP, High Flow Nasal Cannula, and chronic ventilator support.

  • Collaborate with physicians, virtual nurses, CNAs, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams.

  • Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans and discharge needs.

  • Maintain accurate documentation in Epic EMR.

  • Float to lower-acuity units including renal, neuro, and medical-surgical units as needed.
