Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse (RN) โ L&D, Kodiak, Alaska, United States. Start date: 07/06/2026. Travel assignment measured in weeks with a 3x12 rotating shift. Weekly pay: $2,297โ$2,328. Guaranteed hours: 60 hours per 2 weeks (may be off one 12-hour shift per 2-week period). Unit features a four-bed Labor & Delivery area serving neonates through adults in a high-demand, acute care setting. Responsibilities
- Provide vaginal and cesarean delivery support, including immediate newborn care and postpartum assessment
- Monitor labor progression using external fetal monitoring; manage internal monitoring as indicated
- Deliver neonatal care including APGAR scoring, newborn assessment, thermoregulation, and NRP as applicable
- Perform postpartum care for the obstetric patient, including hemorrhage management, fundal assessment, and lochia monitoring
- Administer medications and IV therapies, including oxytocin, magnesium sulfate, and insulin drips as per protocol
- Support breastfeeding initiation, education, and discharge planning for mother and newborn
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (PT, Respiratory, Lab, Radiology, Social Services, Pharmacy, Unit Secretary) to ensure safe, patient-centered care
- Facilitate clear charting in Epic and maintain accurate patient records throughout the shift
Requirements
- Active RN license in Alaska (or ability to obtain per state requirements) is required
- Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NRP, AWHONN Intermediate
- Experience: Minimum 1 year in Labor & Delivery; travel experience not required
- Key skills: Vaginal and cesarean delivery support; external and internal fetal monitoring; neonatal care; postpartum hemorrhage management; IV starts and blood product administration; breastfeeding support and discharge teaching
- Education: Not specified in the notes; entry-level RN education acceptable with required licensure
- Ability to work in an acute care, L&D setting with patient age groups including neonates, infants, adolescents, and adults
