About this opportunity:

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Front End Projects, the Senior Project Engineer independently leads the end-to-end delivery of facility capital projects within Cenovus's Project Delivery System, from early opportunity through execution and turnover. The Senior Project Engineer, operating within Cenovus' Project Delivery System, develops and manages project definition, execution plans, risk, cost, and schedules across stage gates, oversees engineering contractors through all design phases, coordinates key technical reviews, governs procurement, and integrates multidisciplinary engineering while managing scope, risk, and project controls.

What you'll do:

  • Lead facility projects (debottleneck, expansion, regulatory, innovation) through stage gates, ensuring strong scope, cost, schedule, and safety planning

  • Deliver high-quality project handovers to the next phase owner

  • Collaborate cross-functionally to drive critical, value-based decisions

  • Ensure regulatory compliance, stakeholder engagement, and environmental responsibility

  • Manage multiple concurrent projects, prioritizing and coordinating work effectively

  • Drive cost and schedule efficiencies while promoting safety and aligning with construction and commissioning teams

Who you are:

Our ideal candidate will have the following minimum requirements:

  • Legal authority to work in Canada

  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) registered in good standing with APEGA

  • 8+ years of experience in SAGD, refinery/upgrader, or oil & gas facility projects

  • Proven track record of successful project delivery and team accountability

  • Experience managing multidisciplinary project teams and working in field environments

  • Proven knowledge of ASME codes/standards and project controls systems/tools
