Our Exam Room Assistants are at the heart of that mission - a reassuring voice, a steady hand, and a continuous point of communication helping families through stressful moments.

Imagine that it's a busy evening, and a family rushes in with their dog who suddenly became ill. You meet them at the door, calm their nerves, and help them check in quickly. While working with the medical team to begin care, you keep the family updated, answer their questions, and reassure them that their pet is in good hands. By the end of the night, you've not only helped save a life, but you've made a frightening experience a little easier for someone who loves their pet dearly.

As an Exam Room Assistant at Urgent Pet Care, you'll be a guide, a comfort, and an advocate for pets and their people!

Our hours of operation are:

  • Monday - Saturday: 8 am - 12 midnight
  • Sunday: 8 am - 10 pm

Job Description

Job duties include, but are not limited to:

The exam room assistant is a hard worker who is self-motivated, able to multi-task, handles stress well, advocates for their patients, and is aware of the bigger picture. Under the general supervision of a Veterinarian, the exam room assistant helps decide on the best treatment plan for patients. The exam room assistant's goal is to have a working knowledge of the receptionist position, to have competence with Avimark and Microsoft Word, and to provide an exceptional customer service experience by treating each client and patient with the upmost compassion and respect.

Must be able to withstand unpleasant odors and noises. May be exposed to bites, scratches, animal waste and potentially contagious diseases.

Qualifications

We're Looking For:

  • Veterinary experience preferred, but not required
  • Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Ensure that all actions and interactions are consistently in alignment with UPC Core Values and "Behaviors in Action" (See Employee Handbook.)
  • Maintain a high level of professionalism at all times
  • Manage time and tasks appropriately and remain flexible with assigned duties
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Abide by all safety policies and foster a safe working environment
  • Abide by all company policies and procedures and adapt to changes in those policies and procedures as needed
  • Strong attention to detail and problem solving
  • Good attendance
  • Make decisions confidently and effectively
  • Attend monthly staff meetings
  • Must be able to work energetically for an entire shift sometimes exceeding 9-10 hours per day (Shift does not end until all duties are completed.)
