Job description

Position: Citrix & Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) Administrator

Location: Austin, Texas - Onsite

Duration: 12 Months

 

Job Description:

  • We are seeking a highly experienced Citrix & Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) Administrator to support and administer enterprise virtual desktop environments.
  • This role is responsible for day to day operations, advanced troubleshooting, and solutioning within Citrix and AVD platforms, working closely with end users and multiple infrastructure teams to ensure stability, performance, and availability.
  • The ideal candidate brings deep technical expertise, strong communication skills, and proven experience supporting large scale VDI environments in an enterprise setting.

On Call: Required (including coordination with offshore teams)

  • Minimum 6 years of hands on experience administering Citrix and/or Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) environments in production
  • Extensive experience troubleshooting, diagnosing, and resolving complex issues within Citrix and AVD platforms

Proven experience with:

  • Citrix licensing and AVD licensing models
  • Active Directory integration (authentication, group membership, GPO dependencies)
  • Group Policy design, application, and troubleshooting
  • Firewall rules and network connectivity required for Citrix and AVD components

Experience supporting environments with:

  • High availability requirements
  • Enterprise security and compliance controls
  • Demonstrated experience working in on call rotations and supporting offshore or after hours teams
  • Administer, maintain, and support Citrix and AVD environments
  • Troubleshoot user, performance, connectivity, and application issues across VDI platforms
  • Analyze issues end to end, identify root cause, and implement durable solutions
  • Manage and support Citrix and AVD licensing

Coordinate closely with:

  • Server / Infrastructure teams
  • Network and Firewall teams
  • Security teams
  • End User Computing (EUC) teams
  • Work directly with end users to diagnose issues and restore service quickly
  • Participate in on call support, including coordination with offshore support teams
  • Provide clear technical documentation and knowledge transfer as needed
  • Experience in large government or regulated enterprise environments

Familiarity with:

  • Azure infrastructure supporting AVD
  • Monitoring and alerting tools for VDI platforms
  • Strong operational mindset with a focus on uptime, performance, and user experience
  • Working with large, complex Citrix environments supporting a high volume of end users with multiple functions
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to explain technical issues to both technical teams and non-technical end users
  • Comfortable working in high pressure situations requiring rapid diagnosis and resolution
  • Collaborative team player who works effectively across multiple infrastructure disciplines
