Job description

Private owner is seeking an experiencedย Mate / Deckhandย for the 2026 summer season aboard aย 50-foot high-end center console sportfishing vesselย operating out ofย Montauk, NY.ย  ย This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is professional, dependable, and passionate about offshore fishing and boating.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist with all offshore fishing operations and guest support onboard, rigging tackle, bait preparation, fish handling/cleaning, etc.
  • Handle dock lines, anchoring, and provide docking assistance
  • Maintain vessel cleanliness and readiness before and after trips
  • Support safe vessel operation and navigation
  • Operate the vessel as needed under owner/captain direction
  • General maintenance and organization of fishing equipment and deck areas
Qualifications:
  • Prior experience on sportfishing or large center console vessels required
  • Strong knowledge of offshore fishing techniques and equipment
  • Comfortable handling lines and working in varying sea conditions
  • Ability to operate vessels safely and confidently
  • Professional attitude with strong communication skills
  • Must beย reliable, punctual, and safety-focused
  • Flexible schedule including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
Position Details:
  • Seasonal summer role based in Montauk, NY
  • Competitive hourly compensation $25-30 per hour based on experience and credentials
