Our Corporate office in Livonia, Michigan is currently seeking a Network Engineer to join our Information Technology team. The Network Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining the organization's network infrastructure to ensure reliable and secure connectivity. This role requires a deep understanding of networking technologies, protocols, and best practices. The Network Engineer collaborates with cross-functional teams to support business requirements and optimize network performance.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Design, deploy, and maintain the organization's local and wide area networks (LANs/WANs), including routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless infrastructure.
  • Implement and manage network security measures, such as firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and access control lists, to protect the organization's data and systems.
  • Configure and optimize network devices to ensure efficient and reliable network operation.
  • Monitor network performance and troubleshoot network issues, collaborating with other teams and service providers to identify and resolve problems.
  • Perform network capacity planning and recommend necessary upgrades to meet future business requirements.
  • Implement and maintain network monitoring and management tools to proactively identify and address network performance and security issues.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support the design and implementation of network solutions for new projects or system enhancements.
  • Conduct regular network assessments and vulnerability scans to identify and address potential risks.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and best practices in network infrastructure design and security.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of network configurations, diagrams, and procedures.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to end-users, responding to their network-related inquiries and issues.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of network policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Stay up-to-date with emerging network technologies and industry trends, evaluating their potential benefits and recommending their adoption.
  • Collaborate with third-party vendors and service providers to manage and support network-related services and equipment.

Education/Background Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a Network Engineer or similar role in a medium to large-scale enterprise environment.
  • Strong knowledge of networking protocols and technologies, including TCP/IP, VLANs, routing protocols, and VPNs.
  • Experience in designing and managing LANs, WANs, and wireless networks

Specific Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
  • In-depth understanding of network security principles and best practices.
  • Familiarity with network monitoring and management tools, such as Wireshark, Nagios, or SolarWinds.
  • Strong knowledge of network hardware, including routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers.
  • Proficiency in network troubleshooting and diagnostic tools.
  • Solid understanding of network performance optimization techniques.
  • Experience with network virtualization technologies, such as VLAN tagging and virtual routers.
  • Familiarity with network segmentation and micro-segmentation concepts.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex network issues.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and vendors.
