Job description

Salary Range:
$78,000 - $118,000
Under general direction, the Network Engineer will possess an in-depth understanding of networking hardware and software, and have hands-on experience with Cisco routing and switching, Palo Alto firewalls, Load Balancers, Meraki Wireless, and Network Automation. Incumbent will play a crucial role in designing, implementing, and maintaining our network infrastructure to ensure optimal performance and availability. *This position is work-at-home.*
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
  • Monitor network performance and ensure system availability and reliability, tuning and optimizing the network as necessary. Conduct regular network performance tests and prepare reports on network performance and incident response. Troubleshoot network issues and outages, developing strategies to prevent them in the future.
  • Provide tactical design direction and make recommendations in developing solution roadmaps. Collaborate with solution architecture and solution delivery to build new products and improve existing products.
  • Operationalize solutions through documentation, automation of common tasks, and maturing processes. Use network automation tools to streamline and enhance processes.
  • Secure network systems by establishing and enforcing policies, and by defining and monitoring access.
  • Research and consult with resources and industry experts to ensure the effectiveness provided solutions.

Minimum Job Requirements (Education, Experience, Skills):
  • Associate degree in Computer Science, Engineering or relevant field, bachelor's degree preferred and 3 years of experience in technical role preferred.
  • Active Cisco CCNA required
  • Proven experience with all the following:
    • Cisco and Meraki
      • Switches, Firewall, Wireless, Identity Services Engine.
    • Palo Alto Firewalls
    • SD-WAN
    • Public Cloud Design
    • Load balancing and WAF
    • Network Monitoring Tools
    • Routing Protocols
      • BGP, communities, community lists, route-maps
      • OSPF, tagging, redistribution, internal and external.
  • Experience in the following technologies is preferred:
    • DevNet topics
    • Ansible
    • Python
    • Azure Networking and Security Concepts
      • AZ-700
      • Enterprise applications and Conditional Access
      • Traffic Manager and Load Balancing
      • Firewalling
      • Route Base VPN with BGP
  • Extensive knowledge of network infrastructure, routing and routed protocols, and standards.
  • Experience in recommending solutions based upon analysis of network performance.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills (negotiation, coaching, team building, positive thinking, can-do attitude and job flexibility)

Physical Demands:
Must be able to lift at least 25 pounds.
Working Conditions and Environment:
Incumbent works in a temperature controlled office environment. Incumbent sits at a desk during regularly scheduled work hours; answers and makes telephone calls using a standard telephone; types on a standard keyboard; read and comprehends information from a computer terminal and/or written resources. Incumbent is on call 24/7. Incumbent may be required to work beyond normal business hours to meet internal and external customer requirements. Evening and weekend work may be required. Some overnight travel may be required.
