SUMMARY OF POSITION:

Penn State Health has an opportunity for a Physician Assistant to work in our Pediatric Intensive Care Unit in our Children's Hospital. This position requires the ability to progress to a high level of autonomy and independence. Responsible for direct patient care and compliance with guidelines as outlined in the supervising agreement.

The Physician Assistant provides care to a variety of patients including neurosurgical, surgical, trauma, hematology/oncology, nephrology, pulmonology, cardiac, and post-operative cardiac surgery, and manages all modes of mechanical ventilation, ECMO, and CRRT and performs bone marrow transplants but not solid-organ transplants. This position requires in-house, round-the-clock coverage, weekends, and holidays.

The Physician Assistant is credentialed and works in collaboration with the attending physicians, fellows, residents, nurses, and other members of the healthcare team to provide specialty care to critically ill patients. The Physician Assistant provides education and instruction, both formal and informal, to residents, nurses, students, and other healthcare professionals.

Experience working in a Pediatric Critical Care required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION(S):

  • Graduate of an AMA approved Physician Assistant Program or baccalaureate or higher degree program that meets licensure requirements in the State of employment National Certification in State of employment or in another State with reciprocity and licensure to practice in the State of employment.

  • National Certification in State of employment or in another State with reciprocity and licensure to practice in the State of employment.

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
