LMR Technical Group (LMR) is seeking a JTAC Instructor to join our team.


Location:Fort Benning, GA


Job Description:

The JTAC Instructor is responsible for delivering full-spectrum Joint Terminal Attack Control instruction and operational mission support in support of AFSOC and associated geographically separated units. This position is not a classroom-only training role. It is a field-executing operational instructor position that supports live, virtual, and constructive training environments and helps produce and sustain combat mission ready JTACs, instructors, and evaluators. The role directly supports AFSOC requirements for Initial Qualification Training, Mission Qualification Training, Continuation Training, Requalification Training, simulator-supported instruction, mission execution support, records management, and program continuity.


The JTAC Instructor will provide instruction to JTAC trainees, JTACs, JTAC-Is, and JTAC-Es in accordance with governing directives and unit guidance. The individual will support live Close Air Support operations, simulator-based instruction, Live Virtual Constructive events, and associated range activities. The position also includes mission-related responsibilities tied to malfunction, accident, and incident response, training documentation, and advice and assistance to unit JTAC Program Managers and JTAC Evaluator Program Managers. This role requires a professional who can operate credibly inside an AFSOC training environment, maintain currency, integrate with military leadership, and perform safely and effectively under dynamic operational conditions.

The successful candidate will be expected to complete all required in-processing and assumption-of-duty requirements within the contract timelines, including establishing an SRMS account, uploading prior JTAC documentation and logged controls, completing required anti-terrorism training, and beginning requalification within the required window when applicable. This position may require work during irregular hours, weekends, holidays, rotating shifts, and travel in support of distributed training and exercise requirements.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide JTAC instruction in support of IQT, MQT, CT, RQ, and upgrade training.
  • Deliver training to JTAC trainees, JTACs, JTAC-Instructors, and JTAC-Evaluators in live, simulator, and LVC environments.
  • Maintain JTAC and JTAC-I qualifications in accordance with applicable USSOCOM, AFSOC, and unit guidance.
  • If qualified as a JTAC-E, conduct initial, recurring, spot, no-notice, and evaluator evaluations in accordance with governing guidance.
  • Assist in establishing and maintaining JTAC academics, SRMS records, and unit JTAC program documentation.
  • Provide mission support for range operations, CAS execution, and associated training events.
  • Support malfunction, accident, and incident response and reporting requirements.
  • Attend JTAC conferences, meetings, symposiums, and working groups as required for program continuity.
  • Submit required activity inputs for monthly status reporting and other contract deliverables.
  • Comply with unit operating procedures, range guidance, safety requirements, OPSEC requirements, and security protocols at all times.
  • Other related duties as assigned.


Required Qualifications:

  • Must have or have held a JTAC-I qualification rating.
  • Must meet the Appendix 1 role-specific qualification requirement for JTAC Instructor: JTAC-I.

  • U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a Secret clearance and work in this position.
  • Demonstrated experience in JTAC operations, training, or evaluation in military operational environments.
  • Working knowledge of the organizational interface among military, local, state, and federal agencies applicable to supported JTAC functions and operations.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of U.S. military command and control structures.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain all security requirements identified in the DD-254 for the supported site.
  • Valid civilian drivers license and ability to qualify for a military drivers license for supported vehicles and equipment.
  • Demonstrated land navigation and map and compass skills using latitude/longitude and UTM coordinates.
  • Must pass an initial required drug screening and comply with random drug testing requirements.
  • This position requires the successful completion of a pre-employment medical physical and/or health screening to ensure the candidate is able to safely perform the essential duties of the role. Continued employment may be contingent upon maintaining the physical and medical standards necessary for job performance, in accordance with applicable laws and organizational policies.
  • Ability to lift up to 60 pounds.
  • Must be able to complete in-processing, assumption-of-duty, and requalification requirements within required timelines.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future.


Desired Qualifications:

  • Current, active Secret or Top-Secret security clearance.
  • JTAC-E qualification.
  • Prior AFSOC, STS, TACP, Special Tactics, or SOF training support experience.
  • Experience with SRMS administration and records management.
  • Experience instructing in live, simulator, and LVC environments.
  • Experience working in geographically dispersed or OCONUS mission support environments.
  • Strong written communication skills for operational reporting and documentation.
