Instructional Behavior Coach: TOSA

Position Summary:

The Instructional Behavior Coach-TOSA works exclusively within the Special Education department to support students, licensed educators, and paraprofessionals by proactively addressing behavioral, academic, and social-emotional learning (SEL) needs that impact teaching and learning. Operating through a coaching and training lens, this position builds staff capacity and refines specialized instructional practices to ensure students are successfully educated in the least restrictive environment (LRE) and to reduce the need for more restrictive placements. The coach coordinates, trains, and guides special education staff on data collection, Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBAs), and Positive Behavior Support Plans (PBSPs) to target disability-related behavioral skills and ensure due process compliance. Additionally, this position provides targeted training on specialized assessments and curriculum tools, while collaborating with school leadership to design and monitor comprehensive safety and stabilization plans for at-risk special education students.
Position Description/Qualifications:

• Knowledge of current best practices in the field of Special Education, specifically in the area of behavior, due process, and social emotional learning, with evidence of the continuing pursuit of such knowledge
• Experience with data analysis and data-driven decision making to support instruction and behavior interventions
• Effective skills in the area of time management, task prioritization, problem solving and development of solutions
• Effective written and oral communication skills
• Minimum of three years' teaching experience teaching special education students and/or working with students with significant behavioral challenges
• Hold a valid Minnesota license in Special Education, School Psychology, or a current Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) credential. (Preferred areas: Emotional Behavioral Disorders [EBD] or Autism Spectrum Disorders [ASD]).
