Job description

How Youโ€™ll Contribute:

ย 

The Solutions Architect (SA) is a subject matter expert (SME) and technology thought leader who contributes their deep knowledge of process and technology to the core team for each Sportsย Media & Entertainment (M&E) project. The SA provides direction and advice through the project life cycle from sales concept to design development, construction drawings to implementation support. As the technical thought leader on a project team, the SA is instrumental in the determination and execution of client and system requirements and will collaborate withย Sportsย M&E SMEs and project teams asย required. The SA is also responsible for mentoring other members of the design engineering staff. Reporting to the Sportsย Director of Engineering, the SAโ€™s project assignments areย determinedย by Engineering Leadership based on enterprise-wide demands.ย 

NOTE: This is a virtual role day to day, but required periodic travel to customer & project sites. up to 30% of the time, anywhere in the US.

What Youโ€™ll Do:

  • Contributes to complex engagements and works directly with clients and project teams to developย basisย ofย design, budgets, timelines, and manage expectations.ย 
  • Conceptualize system designs andย determineย system requirements.ย 
  • Provide technicalย expertiseย and coordination information to support the base building tasks performed by others, and planning of audio, video, and control solutions.ย 
  • Monitor development ofย projectsย the Bills of Materials (BOM) and supporting documentation.ย 
  • Develop detailed design documentation strategy based on established engineering standard practices. Track engineering team tasks to completion.ย 
  • Generate functional system descriptions, workflow narratives, and accompanying sketches.ย 
  • Research,ย identify, and recommend technology options for clients and projects.ย 
  • Contribute technicalย expertiseย for the creation and later reconciliation of the complete construction drawing package, support documentation for installation and coordination withย architectย and other trades.ย 
  • Monitor project testing, commissioning, and configuration activities during project deployment.ย 
  • Support projects and teams inย buildย phase.ย 
  • Provide regular project engineering milestone status updates to Technical Operations resource planning.ย 
  • Evaluate RFP documents to identify risks, scope gaps and alternative solutions.
  • Evaluate Vendor responses to RFP requests to determine if the quoted solution appropriately responds to the RFP requirements and also work with the vendors to develop alternative solutions and or cost saving measures.
  • Work with Sports Account Executives and customers to develop proposals that respond to the customersโ€™ technical needs.
  • Maintainย expertiseย in the industry through ongoing review of trade publications, participation in industry trade shows, seminars, and educational forums.

Complexity:ย 

The Solutions Architect works with the Sportsย Engineering Director on resourceย assignment. This role is primarily billable in a post-sales capacity, though there are times when the SA will work on presales estimation and design efforts.ย 

Decision Making Authority:ย 

As the technical thought leader on a project, the SA is responsible forย vetting products and making detailed equipment recommendations. The SA has the authority to recommend changes in scope as well as programming and commissioning activities to enhance project success. The SA is also responsible for reviewing drawing packages produced by project teams.ย 

Physical Demands:ย 

The physical demands described here are representative of those that may be met by an employee. Work will normally be performed within normal office conditions and/or home office depending on location of SA. On occasions the employee may be exposed to construction site conditions.ย Employeeย willย be responsible forย their safety while on job sites and toย comply withย all safety regulations in place by the GC. Use of PPE is usuallyย requiredย on job sites. The employee can typically spend at least 50% of their time on their feet and beย requiredย to mobile around the construction site. The individualย is regularly required toย use keyboards, testย equipmentย and controlsย requiredย for SI installation projects. Specific vision abilitiesย requiredย for this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth vision.ย 

Travel:ย 

Occasional travel by car and occasional airplane trips are required.ย Employeeย mustย possessย a valid driverโ€™s license in their state of residence.ย Employeeย willย be requiredย to use their own vehicle for travel to job sites within aย 2 hourย driving distance each way and will be reimbursed for mileage at the current corporate rate.ย 

Estimated travel for this position is approximately~ย 30% but may varyย greatly dependingย on project needs.ย

  • High school diploma or GEDย requiredย 
  • Proficient in AutoCAD and MS Office 365ย 

Required Skills/Qualifications:

  • 15+ yearsโ€™ experience inย Sports /ย Media/ Entertainment (M&E) technical systems design forย Stadium / Arena Videoย Productionย Systemsย 
  • Extensive experience with SMPTE 2110 Routing Orchestration andย Network Architecture and Digital AV networks (e.g.ย Danteย / AES67) isย required; certifications preferredย 
  • Understanding of TCP/IP routing, ACLโ€™s, QoS, VLANโ€™s and Wireless Access Points; network certifications preferredย 
  • SDIย Based Routing and Production Systemsย 
  • Stadium / Arena Broadcast Cabling Solutionsย 
  • Productionย Control Roomsย ย 
  • Camera Systems (Wired / Wireless / PTZ / HFR / HDR)ย 
  • Replay /ย Slow Motionย Systemsย 
  • Graphics Systems and LED CMS Systemsย
