Job Opportunity: Dermatologist
Our organization is seeking a dynamic, motivated, and empathetic Physician to join our team as a Dermatologist. This role is essential in providing healthcare services to our Veterans, who are true heroes of our nation.
Facility Overview
The VA Loma Linda Healthcare System (VALLHCS) is on the lookout for a Board Certified or Board Eligible Dermatologist. The selected individual will have the opportunity for a faculty position at a local university, engaging in the education and training of medical students, residents, and other healthcare providers. Position Responsibilities
- Conduct evaluations and consultations to diagnose and treat skin disorders and diseases.
- Deliver comprehensive patient care in both outpatient and inpatient dermatology settings, including examinations, diagnoses, follow-ups, and medical record documentation.
- Perform surgical procedures and oversee resident clinics.
- Interpret clinical data to determine diagnoses and clinical status.
- Engage in electronic consultations (e-consults) to enhance access to dermatology services and utilize the Specialty Care Access Network-Extension for Community Healthcare Outcomes (SCAN-ECHO) for educational purposes.
- Participate in teledermatology consultations and virtual visits.
- Prescribe timely treatments and therapeutic procedures, adjusting plans based on patient responses.
- Order diagnostic tests, differentiate between normal and abnormal findings, and make informed treatment decisions.
- Perform minor procedures such as biopsies, cryotherapy, and patch testing.
- Build rapport with patients and their families, ensuring they are informed participants in their care.
- Collaborate effectively in team meetings and treatment planning with multidisciplinary team members.
- Provide evening, weekend, and holiday coverage for dermatology consultations as part of a rotation with fellow Dermatologists.
- Document all patient encounters in the medical record daily, adhering to Medical Center bylaws.
Educational Involvement
- Actively participate in the education of medical students, residents, and other healthcare staff.
- Supervise residents, fellows, and students assigned to the Dermatology Service.
- Oversee clinical care provided by Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
Competencies and Administrative Duties
- Ensure medical practices comply with Joint Commission, CARF, VA policies, clinical guidelines, and HIPAA regulations.
- Complete administrative tasks as assigned by the Chief of Dermatology.
Work Schedule
This position operates Monday through Friday and includes participation in on-call coverage for evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Compensation
The salary range for this position is between $340,000 and $365,000. Board certification or eligibility in Dermatology is preferred.
