Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Full Charge Bookkeeper/Staff Accountant to join our dynamic team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to manage comprehensive accounting functions, ensure regulatory compliance, and contribute to the financial health of our organization. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical accounting skills, experience with diverse financial software, and a passion for accuracy and efficiency. Responsibilities

  • Manage the full cycle of bookkeeping and accounting activities, including accounts payable, receivable, payroll, and general ledger maintenance.
  • Entering and coding vendor bills and process payments (subject to approval)
  • Post customer payments and maintain the AR aging tracker.
  • Collections support: send routine past due notices using established templates for non escalated accounts.
  • Sales tax: prepare filings and submit payments (Arizona TPT upon approval)
  • Support the annual tax process for our outside CPA, if information is needed for return preparation.
  • Prepare, review, and analyze financial statements in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and regulatory standards.
  • Reconcile bank statements, balance sheets, and subsidiary ledgers to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Record journal entries, perform account analysis, and conduct month-end and year-end closing procedures.
  • Maintain detailed records of financial transactions using accounting software such as QuickBooks, utilize Excel data analysis tools including VLOOKUP functions and spreadsheets for reporting purposes.
  • Maintain accurate audit ready books in QuickBooks.
  • Support internal controls by ensuring compliance with SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) requirements and other regulatory frameworks.
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow analysis to support strategic decision-making.
  • Contribute to the preparation of regulatory reports and assist auditors during audits by providing accurate documentation and explanations of financial data.
  • Mentor junior staff or interns in accounting best practices while fostering a collaborative team environment as our company continues to grow.

Skills

  • 2 + years of bookkeeping experience or full charge bookkeeping experience
  • Extensive experience with accounting principles including GAAP, double entry bookkeeping, and technical accounting concepts.
  • Strong work knowledge of QuickBooks.
  • Full charge bookkeeping certification (eg, QuickBooks, etc) a plus but not required.
  • Experience with Arizona sales tax (TPT) filing preferred.
  • High attention to detail and comfort handling confidential financial information.
  • Experience in the events, AV, hospitality, or another service-based industry is a plus.
  • Proficiency in financial software such as QuickBooks, PeopleSoft, or other enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems; familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite—especially Excel for data analysis and report writing.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory compliance accounting standards such as SOX and securities law where applicable.
  • Knowledge of specialized areas including non-profit accounting is helpful as we deal with a lot of non profit businesses.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform account reconciliation, balance sheet reconciliation, journal entries, and general ledger reconciliation accurately.
  • Expertise in financial statement preparation, interpretation of financial reports, and regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Skilled in budgeting, forecasting, cash flow analysis, account analysis, and accrual accounting practices.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data using tools like Excel’s VLOOKUP function or spreadsheet formulas for detailed financial analysis.
