Automotive Service Advisor

Dieter's Automotive | San Diego, CA

Full-Time | On-Site | Monday–Friday

Estimated Annual Compensation: $85,000–$125,000

Dieter's Automotive is looking for an experienced Automotive Service Advisor to join our established San Diego team.

For more than 60 years, Dieter's has built a reputation for quality automotive service, honest communication, and treating customers with respect. We specialize in European vehicles and are looking for a confident, organized, customer-focused Service Advisor who understands how a successful repair shop operates.

This is an opportunity for an experienced automotive professional to take ownership of the customer experience, work closely with an experienced technical team, and be rewarded for strong performance.


What You'll Do

  • Welcome customers and guide them through the repair and service process.
  • Listen to customer concerns and accurately document vehicle issues and requested services.
  • Write clear, accurate repair orders and prepare detailed estimates.
  • Explain repair needs and recommendations in a professional, easy-to-understand manner.
  • Keep customers informed about repair progress, timelines, and changes.
  • Coordinate communication between customers, technicians, and parts suppliers.
  • Manage multiple repair orders and customer needs in a busy environment.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and keep work moving efficiently.
  • Build customer trust through honest recommendations and exceptional service.

What We're Looking For

  • 3+ years of experience as an Automotive Service Advisor, Service Writer, or in a comparable customer-facing automotive service role.
  • Strong understanding of automotive repair terminology and service operations.
  • Experience writing repair orders and preparing estimates.
  • Ability to confidently communicate repair recommendations and costs to customers.
  • Excellent communication skills with both customers and technicians.
  • Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Comfortable using computer systems and automotive shop management software.
  • Professional, reliable, and self-directed.

Experience in an independent repair shop and/or working with European vehicles is preferred, but strong candidates from dealership or other automotive service environments are encouraged to apply.


Compensation & Benefits

Estimated annual compensation: $85,000–$125,000, depending on experience and performance.
