Sr. DevOps Engineer

Location: Bellevue, WA - onsite

Contract

Position Summary

We are seeking a hands‑on Cloud Engineer with strong expertise in Azure cloud platforms, application onboarding. The ideal candidate will have experience migrating applications and data workloads from on‑premises environments to Azure, provisioning and managing cloud infrastructure, and supporting distributed data platforms including Kafka.

This role will work closely with application, infrastructure, and data engineering teams to modernize enterprise platforms and ensure seamless cloud adoption.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead onboarding of enterprise applications onto Azure cloud platforms.
  • Plan and execute migration of applications, databases, and data platforms from on‑premises environments to Azure.
  • Assess existing application architectures and define migration strategies, dependencies, and modernization opportunities.
  • Support cloud transformation initiatives with minimal business disruption.
  • Provision, configure, and manage Azure infrastructure, including:
    • Virtual Machines (VMs)
    • Virtual Networks (VNets)
    • Storage Accounts
    • Load Balancers
    • Azure Kubernetes Services (AKS)
    • Managed Services
  • Deploy and maintain Azure environments across development, testing, and production.
  • Automate infrastructure provisioning using Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools.
  • Implement CI/CD pipelines and cloud automation practices.
  • Monitor cloud environments and optimize performance, reliability, security, and cost.
  • Support incident resolution, root cause analysis, and operational excellence initiatives.
  • Ensure adherence to cloud governance, security, and compliance standards.
  • Support migration and modernization of data platforms and data‑intensive applications.
  • Troubleshoot Kafka clusters, topics, consumer groups, and performance issues.
  • Work closely with data engineering teams to ensure reliable and scalable data movement across platforms.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in Cloud Engineering or Infrastructure Engineering roles.
  • Strong hands‑on experience with Microsoft Azure.
  • Proven experience migrating applications and data workloads from on‑premises environments to Azure.
  • Experience provisioning and managing Azure Virtual Machines and cloud infrastructure.
  • Strong experience with Apache Kafka and event‑driven architectures.
  • Experience with:
    • Azure Networking
    • Azure Storage
    • Azure Monitor
    • Azure Security & Identity Management
    • Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, ARM, or Bicep)
    • CI/CD tools and DevOps practices
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) and containerized applications.
  • Knowledge of data platforms such as Snowflake, Databricks, PostgreSQL, or SQL Server.
