Job description

Student aides will work at the front desk of the Job Placement Resource Center.  Student aides must be able to provide exceptional customer service in-person, via telephone, and through written/virtual communication.  Additional duties include helping the office with special projects and tabling events. 

Will determine schedule based on student's availability.  Must have availability to work during the following office hours: 

  • Monday: 8am to 4:30 pm 
  • Tuesday: 8am to 4:30 pm 
  • Wednesday: 8am to 4:30 pm 
  • Thursday: 8am to 4:30 pm 
  • Friday: 8am to 4:30pm 

Maximum hours per week: 20 hours 

Qualifications: 

  • Outgoing, friendly, and customer focused 
  • Ability to maintain privacy and confidentiality 
  • Strong communication skills 
  • Flexible 
  • Dependable 
  • Ability to work independently

Some office experience is helpful but not required. Knowledge of Word and Excel. Comfortable with providing customer service via phone and in person.

In order to apply for this position, you must be a current Harper College student and enrolled in at least 6 credits per semester (3 for summer) and eligible for Federal Work Study.

Job Duties:  

  • Greet and assist visitors, answer phone inquiries from students, employers, and community members.  
  • Schedule appointments, check in students, and provide information about center services  
  • Assist students in computer lab with general questions and navigating job board. 
  • Perform light clerical duties and assist office staff with projects  
  • Deliver and post flyers around campus 
  • Make appointment reminder calls (follow up phone calls to students) 
  • Assist with outreach, marketing, and attendance at center events as needed  
  • Assist with social media postings 
  • Other duties as assigned
