Job description

We are seeking an Electronic Security Systems Technician to join our federal team supporting the Tyndall Air Force Base in Panama City, FL. It may require some travel to help support other project sites at times also.

Johnson Controls Federal Systems (JCFS) is a specialized team serving as a trusted partner to the federal government. We help modernize U.S. military installations, Department of Defense and other federal agency facilities to be smarter, more resilient, efficient, sustainable, and secure.
Location: Primarily Tyndall Air Force Base. May help out at some other project sites at times also.
Pay range: $85,000 - $105,000 base salary. Negotiable based on experience.
Bonus Eligible: Yes, 10%
Benefits: Eligible for benefits on first day of employment
Vacation: 3 weeks of paid vacation, 5 sick days, 3 floating holidays and 10 standard holidays per calendar year (6.5 weeks in total).
Travel: Up to 25% supporting other project sites at times. All travel related expenses are paid for by the company.
As a Security Systems Technician, you will:
  • Act as an on-site project leader to plan, execute, and complete Electronic Security projects (access controls, intrusion detection, CCTV cameras, etc) with assigned customers in a safe and cost effective manner, primarily working with the Vindicator for the access controls (ACU) and Intrusion Detection (IDS)
  • Performs or delegates tasks as required to execute and fully complete assigned projects including: system programming, integration, installation coordination, system and network commissioning and project closeout
  • Assists with developing project plans and coordinates the required resources to ensure timely and cost effective installation and completion of assigned projects.
  • Provides work direction to subcontractors, electrical installers, technicians, designers, and administration as necessary
  • Completes typical installation of hardware design and software programming using established standards as required.
  • Manages and completes the loading, device verification, and commissioning of system controllers as required. Validates complete system functionality and resolves issues with subcontractors and others to ensure proper operation. Provides accurate project as-built and commissioning documentation
  • Ensures work performed is in compliance with state, local and Federal legal requirements, and ensures Johnson Controls staff and subcontractors adhere to all safety standards.
  • Assists with the selection, ordering, budget and delivery schedule of materials
  • Performs site-specific training for owner/operator on the total system in full or with assistance. Ensures owner/operator has been trained. Provides proper documentation and manuals for system operation.
  • Adheres to safety standards, local and national security and fire codes, with a high degree of regard to employee and subcontractor safety
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:
  • Experience working with commercial or industrial Electronic Security Systems (access controls, intrusion detection systems, etc), LAN infrastructure, virtualized server environments, or cybersecurity
  • Experience working with Vindicator for access controls and intrusion detection
  • Technical Proficiency working with fiber and networks
  • The ability to communicate technical material to a nontechnical audience
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Powerpoint) and general windows environment
  • The ability to obtain and maintain required government security clearances as needed. (This involves a background/character, criminal history, employment, and credit check.)

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Technical Proficiency working with fiber and networks
  • Technical, hands-on experience with systems design, commissioning and/or programming of Electronic Security Systems.
  • Experience working with a wide variety of commercial Electronic Security Systems; Vindicator, Softwarehouse C-cure 9000, Lenel, Genetech, Bosch BVMS, etc
  • Experience managing or leading security related projects and associated teams

Preferred Education:
  • Electronics certification or technical training from an Accredited Technical School
  • Active Vindicator IDS and/or ACS certifications
  • Active Security+ certification
