POSITION DETAILS:
Wellington Exempted Village Schools (Lorain County) seeks a dynamic and dedicated individual to join our team. This position will support students and teachers across a variety of learning environments (e.g., individual, small groups, resource rooms, classrooms, the cafeteria, and the playground). Specific building assignment TBD.
JOB CATEGORY: Support Staff
JOB TITLE: Paraprofessional - Classroom
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  1. Neat in appearance, good human relations, of good moral character
  2. Demonstrates aptitude or competence for assigned responsibilities
  3. High school diploma or equivalent
  4. Hold or ability to acquire an Ohio Educational Aide Permit
  5. Hold or the ability to acquire CPI certification
  6. Pass mandated criminal background checks and enroll in any state required programs
  7. Basic technology skills

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  1. Experience working in an educational setting
  2. Experience with students with special needs

DUTIES ASSIGNED BY: Principal and Student Services Director
JOB OBJECTIVE: To supervise and support the individualized educational needs of students and assist other school personnel.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Ability to see, speak, hear, and read.
  2. Maintain confidentiality.
  3. Supervise students in a variety of classroom settings, including, but not limited to, small groups, one-on-one, study hall, alternative settings, in-person, and online.
  4. Assist, evaluate, collect data, and keep records on students' knowledge, attendance, skills, and behavior.
  5. Assist students in managing their emotions and behavior in a safe and restorative manner.
  6. To be able to clearly articulate written material to students.
  7. Help students master instructional materials assigned by the teachers.Ability to work with students independently and in group settings.
  8. Helps to maintain a clean learning environment.
  9. Assist in the grading of assignments and help prepare instructional materials.
  10. Help maintain school and classroom rules.
  11. Attends and completes all scheduled training sessions.
  12. Stays up to date on safety practices and procedures.
  13. Follows all Wellington Exempted Village Schools policies and procedures.
  14. Maintains good attendance, reports to work on time, (with the appropriate safety attire) and communicates all absences in a timely manner while following appropriate procedures.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Hourly (Full-time status is 7 hours paid with a half-hour unpaid lunch with benefits compensation, unless otherwise negotiated) and work year as per the Negotiated Agreement.
EVALUATION: Performed annually by the Student Services Director or Designee (per Negotiated Agreement)
