Their role is critical in keeping projects on track and within budget, handling everything from booking locations to coordinating talent. They serve as the communication hub between different departments, helping to solve problems and anticipate production needs. This position is essential for the successful execution of commercials, films, television shows, and digital video projects.

Familiarity with scheduling software, budgeting tools, and post-production systems like Adobe Premiere Pro or Final Cut Pro is typical. These skills ensure seamless production workflows, timely project delivery, and high-quality video content.

Prime Video is a premium streaming service that offers customers a vast collection of TV shows and movies, all with the ease of finding what they love to watch in one place. We offer customers thousands of popular movies and TV shows including Amazon Originals and exclusive licensed content to exciting live sports events.
Prime Video's Cross Functional Central Program Team is seeking a Principal Technical Program Manager to define and deliver strategically important, cross-organizational programs that shape the future of Prime Video's technology landscape. This role operates at the intersection of multiple VP organizations, driving initiatives where the business and architectural strategy may not yet be defined. You will bring clarity to significantly complex problems, set the vision for long-term solutions, and align senior leadership across Prime Video to deliver outcomes with broad customer and business impact.
As a Principal TPM, you will own a portfolio of high-visibility programs that sit across domains including Client Customer Experience (CX), Personalization and Discovery, Commerce, and Beta initiatives. You will partner with VPs, Directors, and engineering leaders across Prime Video to define technology strategy, drive architectural decisions, and deliver solutions that leverage ML/AI capabilities to advance our mission of being the first-stop entertainment destination for hundreds of millions of customers worldwide.
Key job responsibilities
- Define and deliver programs with broad cross-organizational impact, operating across multiple VP organizations within Prime Video
- Drive clarity in highly ambiguous spaces where business strategy, architectural direction, and problem definition may not yet exist
- Set program vision, strategy, and long-term roadmaps for initiatives with high leadership visibility
- Identify gaps and opportunities across architectures, organizations, and systems; decompose significantly complex problems into straightforward, scalable solutions
- Drive architecture and organization changes that enable engineering teams to work independently and achieve significant efficiency improvements
- Partner with science and engineering teams to integrate ML/AI capabilities into cross-domain programs, ensuring technical strategies align with long-term product vision
- Influence organization priorities, system owners, and technology direction through data-driven business and technical judgment
- Build consensus among senior leadership across multiple organizations, representing complex decisions, trade-offs, and potential solutions clearly
- Create and drive adoption of critical mechanisms that ensure long-term program success with and without your direct involvement
- Proactively identify and remediate critical or endemic problems across Prime Video's technology ecosystem
- Force multiply by educating the TPM and engineering communities on best practices
- Develop the TPM community through mentoring and performing promotion assessments
A day in the life
You will own a portfolio of strategic programs spanning multiple Prime Video VP organizations, tackling initiatives where the path forward requires your expertise to define. You will drive alignment with VPs and Directors, building consensus on technology strategies and resource allocation. You will lead architectural discussions that solve endemic problems or unlock new ML/AI-powered capabilities at scale. You will partner with science teams to validate model integration approaches and with product teams to ensure long-term customer value. You will communicate program strategy and trade-offs to leadership, create scalable mechanisms that outlast your direct involvement, and develop the next generation of TPM talent.
About the team
The Cross Functional Central Program Team is not embedded within any single organization. We operate across Prime Video's VP organizations, owning high-visibility, high-profile, ambiguous, complex, and critical initiatives. We drive Prime Video central mechanisms including Operational Planning and AI Adoption. We manage upwards and downwards, removing roadblocks to accelerate delivery. We think broadly and obsess over Amazon Leadership Principles, particularly Deliver Results, Ownership, Bias for Action, Invent and Simplify, Disagree and Commit, and Earn Trust. If you thrive in ambiguity and want to shape how Prime Video delivers at scale, this team is for you.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 10+ years of working directly with engineering teams experience
- 10+ years of technical product or program management experience
- 7+ years of software development experience
- Experience managing programs across cross functional teams, building processes and coordinating release schedules
