Job description

Spotlight on Maryland has an opening for a dynamic Photojournalist/storyteller. This team will produce exclusive, innovative, hard hitting and high-impact stories for digital, social and television. We are looking for a creative visual storyteller who can capture video images for use on multiple platforms that involve stories that go beyond the basics, hold government and elected leaders accountable, and press for a solution. We seek someone who can see beyond the lens to provide something meaningful that will have an impact on the communities we serve.   

You should have three (3) years of ENG experience with a network affiliate TV news organization. We need a photographer who has exceptional video editing skills. We are shooting full HD on media cards and editing on desktops and laptops. You should have strong editing skills in non-linear edit systems, have and maintain a valid license and a good driving record, possess excellent people skills, a strong work ethic and have a great attitude. A passion for story telling is absolutely essential in this position.  

Responsibilities will include:

  • Editing and shooting general assignment stories, multiple lives shots, and natural sound packages
  • Shooting and editing day-to-day general assignment stories, in-depth features and investigative assignments, as well as shooting live shots
  • Exceptional video editing skills on non-linear edit systems and basic graphics skills
     

Required Skills:

  • Three (3) years ENG experience with a network affiliate TV news organization
  • At least three (3) years of shooting experience, and technical knowledge of editing and video equipment
  • Aggressive team-player who can produce good stories under tight deadlines
  • Impeccable video editing skills (experience editing on Adobe Premier Pro is a plus)
  • Photographer who shoots live shots for multiple stations nationwide
  • Has studio and field lighting experience
  • Able to work some nights and weekends 
  • Possesses trouble shooting and problem solving skills
  • Excellent transmission experience (fiber, LiveU, sat truck)
  • Basic graphics skills (Adobe After Effects experience a plus)
  • Superior audio skills
  • Hold a valid driver's license and be able to operate ENG news vehicles
  • Must be able to lift and carry between 25 and 50 pounds on a regular basis

The base salary compensation range for this role is $33.65 to $38.46. Final compensation for this role will be determined by various factors such as a candidate's relevant work experience, skills, certifications, and geographic location. Full time positions are eligible for benefits that include participation in a retirement plan, life and disability insurance, health, dental and vision plans, flexible spending accounts, 15 paid vacation days, 2 paid personal days, 9 paid holidays, 40 hours of paid sick leave, parental leave, and employee stock purchase plan.
