Producer/Editor
General Description:
The Houston Rockets are seeking a passionate and talented Video Producer ready to work in a fast-paced and creative production environment. Our department is responsible for creating original content, features, commercials, and delivering via streaming services, apps, and social media platforms both quickly and systematically for the Houston Rockets, our partners, and Landry’s as needed. This role will be focused on creating long-form storytelling content while supporting other department needs.
RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to:
  • Demonstrate our One Team philosophy of Passion, Accountability, Customer Focus, and Teamwork.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with marketing and production team to build compelling video content for Rockets/Comets fans and our partners.
  • Content Creation: Produce high-quality video content covering various aspects of the Houston Rockets and Houston Comets, including game highlights, player profiles, team history, and current storylines.
    • Have a high-level understanding of ideation, storyboards, and pitching ideas that are within budget, on time, and on brand.
  • Storytelling: Develop compelling narratives and storylines that captivate our audience and provide insight into the team's journey, both on and off the court.
    • Able to concept original ideas, take requests, work with existing footage, and create highly produced pieces.
    • Use storytelling skills to produce our monthly all-access docuseries in-season, stand-alone documentary style pieces, and other long form content for Youtube
  • Research: Stay up to date with the latest news, trends, and developments surrounding the Houston Rockets and the NBA, including past achievements, key moments, and current roster dynamics.
  • Editing: Edit and enhance video footage using industry-standard editing software, adding graphics, music, and other elements to elevate the quality of the final product.
    • Understand color correction, audio mastering, and use of different codecs.
    • Help build/log/maintain digital video library.
  • Shooting: Plan and execute video shoots that support long form content including interviews, behind the scenes, and high production value broll.
  • In addition to the long-form responsibilities, this position should be prepared to support other department initiatives including short-form social videos, commercials, retail promos, community event coverage, and more when required.
  • Feedback amp; Improvement: Solicit feedback from stakeholders and audience members to continually refine and improve the quality of our video content and storytelling.
  • Ability to work both independently and in a collaborative environment.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university with major coursework in film/broadcast/communications or equal experience.
  • A minimum of 5 years of producing experience for a sports team or post house.
  • Proficiency in video editing software – Adobe Premiere Pro, and Adobe Creative Cloud
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal/written communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work nights, weekends and holidays required as needed.
  • Live production/control experience a plus.
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple assignments under pressure.
  • Comfortable working in a fast paced, time-sensitive department
  • Ability to assist in shooting a plus
  • Some travel may be required

PHYSICAL amp; MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • The employee is regularly required to stand, sit, walk, use handle or feel, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, communicate with others.
