Bartender - Big Chill Beach Club

Job Description

Summary of Position: Do you think it would be fun to bartend at an ocean-front venue, situated right on the beach next to the Indian River Inlet Bridge? Are you a fan of good food, good drinks, and good vibes? If so, then you might be the perfect fit for the Big Chill Beach Club team! A Big Chill Beach Club Bartender is a fun, friendly, cocktail and beer expert performing a live show daily as they are responsible for making our guests feel like they have escaped to the perfect beach destination. Bartenders will show our guests how to eat, drink and be merry, and they will lead our FOH staff by setting examples of top-notch hospitality through every guest interaction. Must Enjoy the Ride!
Duties amp; Responsibilities:
  • Welcome and greet guests quickly with a smile. Make all of our guests feel comfortable and be attentive, approachable and fun with every interaction
  • Always be professional, while still maintaining a casual atmosphere. Know everything about our craft beer, wine, spirits, and signature drinks and be able to provide a tour of our menus
  • Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks consistent with the Restaurant's standard drink recipes
  • Slice fruit and assist barbacks in squeezing juices at the prescribed par level needed for each day
  • Constantly maintain cleanliness in all areas of the bar including counters, sinks, utensils, shelves and storage areas
  • Report all equipment problems and bar maintenance issues to the bar and/or general manager
  • Assist in restocking and replenishment of bar inventory and supplies at the beginning and end of each shift.
  • Be knowledgeable about the State Parks and our environment, including beach names, wave breaks, wildlife, and history. Be a storyteller. Engage our guests with information
  • Be a guest recognition expert. Know our regulars by name and obtain new ones!
  • Do not be "just" an order taker. Answer questions appropriately. Take orders accurately
  • Enter orders in our point-of-sale system quickly and accurately
  • Be interesting. Be unique. Have fun
  • Monitor and observe guests' dining experience. Ensure guests are satisfied with the food and service. Respond promptly and courteously to any requests. Alert the manager on duty immediately should a guest appear intoxicated and respond accordingly
  • Promote La Vida Hospitality events and the Restaurant
  • Prepare final bill, present check to guest, accept payment, accurately process card charges or make change
  • Provide appropriate farewells to all guests
  • Be a team player and assist with side work at the start and end of each shift
  • Be flexible to fill in as needed to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the restaurant as directed by the restaurant manager or immediate supervisor
  • Keep the bar stocked and clean while always providing friendly and attentive service
  • Adhere to company and state standards for serving alcoholic beverages
  • Live as a brand ambassador and make decisions in the best interest of the Beach Club at all times
Qualifications:
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Must have at least 1 year bartending/hospitality experience, preferably in a fast-paced bar/restaurant
  • Must have fundamental knowledge of beer, wine and liquor, and common drink recipes
  • Must possess cash handling/math skills and have the ability to efficiently operate a cash register/POS
  • Must have strong interpersonal communication skills with a customer-service oriented attitude
  • Must be a team-player and enjoy interacting with others
  • Must enjoy working outside by the beach
  • Must be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time and be able to reach, bend, stoop, and frequently lift up to 40 pounds
  • Must have a current Alcohol Beverage Certificate in Delaware
