What you’ll do in the role:

Morgan Stanley Smith Barney LLC is seeking a Vice President, Technology in New York, New York to provide strategic analytical insights to support decision‑making. Liaise with business partners to understand requirements and prioritization of work. Partner with Subject Matter Experts across Wealth Management Technology, Data Science and Marketing Technology teams to understand data sources and build campaigns supporting the simulation model. Design scalable data products and solutions to support firm strategic initiatives. Complete end‑to‑end analysis across product development phases and draw analytical data insights to facilitate Leadership decision‑making. Support delivery of projects and oversee operational tasks to ensure business continuity. Deliver data output ensuring rigorous data quality checks and present results using streamlined data visualization tools. Telecommuting permitted up to 1 day per week.

What you’ll bring to the role:
  • Requires a Master’s degree in Economics, Data Science, or a related field of study
  • Requires three (3) years of experience in the position offered or three (3) years as an Associate, Analyst, or a closely related occupation
  • Requires three (3) years of experience with the following skills:
    • Datawarehouse platforms, Hadoop, and Snowflake;
    • BI tools including Dataiku, Python, Pandas, Numpy, and Excel VBA;
    • data visualization tools including Tableau and PowerBI;
    • developing performance measurement and benchmarking to quantify efficacy of various strategies supporting launch of products and services;
    • financial products and markets including Alternative investments, Capital markets, Traditional Investment products, and Insured Solutions;
    • data governance, data quality, and regulatory considerations;
    • program management;
    • working with business partners to identify and solve problems; and
    • translating business requirements into actionable data insights for senior leadership.

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $170,000 and $190,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long‑term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
