Job Title: Senior Vice President of Distribution

Reports To: Executive Vice President of Distribution

FLSA Classification: Exempt

Job Purpose

Owns Threaded Fasteners Inc.'s Commercial Distribution growth strategy, driving profitable sales expansion, market share growth, and branch performance across all regions. Sets company-wide standards for commercial sales execution, leadership accountability, customer development, pricing discipline, and operational alignment while developing Regional Vice Presidents and Branch Leadership Teams to achieve sustainable growth and profitability.

Key Business Outcomes:

  • Commercial sales growth and net profit growth consistently meet or exceed Company objectives.
  • Regional and Branch sales plans are established, monitored, and executed to support long-term growth strategies.
  • Same-Branch growth is achieved through new customer acquisition, increased customer share-of-wallet, and improved sales execution.
  • Consistent sales & operation's processes, performance expectations, and accountability standards are implemented across all commercial branches.
  • Pricing and margin strategies are effectively executed to maximize profitability while maintaining competitiveness.
  • Regional Vice Presidents and Branch leadership teams are developed through coaching, performance management, and succession planning.
  • Business performance is measured through standardized scorecards, operating metrics, and branch profitability reviews.
  • New market, territory, and expansion opportunities are identified, evaluated, and executed to support growth objectives.
  • Collaboration between Sales, Operations, Purchasing, Finance, and Human Resources supports customer service, profitability, and organizational growth.

Job Results & Accountabilities:

  • Develops and executes the Company's commercial sales and growth strategy.
  • Provides leadership for all Regional Vice Presidents by establishing priorities, developing talent, and ensuring consistent execution of Company sales strategies.
  • Establishes annual sales, gross profit, and net profitability objectives for regions and Branches.
  • Develops and maintains measurable regional and branch growth plans aligned with Company objectives.
  • Creates and maintains Company standards for sales management, customer development, pricing discipline, and performance accountability.
  • Monitors branch and regional performance through scorecards, key performance indicators, and financial results.
  • Identifies underperforming operations and develops corrective action plans in partnership with Regional Vice Presidents.
  • Identifies and implements best practices across regions to improve sales growth, profitability, and leadership effectiveness.
  • Supports strategic customer relationships, major customer opportunities, and key account development activities.
  • Evaluates and recommends Branch expansion, market development, and territory growth opportunities.
  • Ensures Purchasing and Inventory strategies support customer demand and sales growth.
  • Partners with Operations leadership to improve service levels, delivery performance, inventory availability, and branch efficiency.
  • Contributes to the development of budgets, forecasts, profitability initiatives, and performance measurement processes.
  • Partners with Human Resources to meet compliance requirements, recruit, develop, and retain effective sales and operational team members.
  • Promotes the Company's culture, values, and employee-owned philosophy throughout the Commercial Distribution business.
  • Partners with Finance, Operations, Manufacturing, and Sales to ensure purchasing strategies support the Company's operational and financial goals.

Division of Ownership:

The Senior Vice President, Commercial Distribution develops and maintains the Company's commercial growth strategy, sales management & profitability standards, leadership expectations, and performance accountability systems. Regional Vice Presidents are responsible for executing within these standards and remain accountable for the performance of their respective regions and Branches.

Performance Measurement:

Performance is measured through commercial sales growth, gross profit growth, branch profitability, budget achievement, market share expansion, customer acquisition, retention of existing customer business, pricing discipline, and leadership development. Success is demonstrated by sustainable sales growth, improved profitability, strong branch performance, and the development of a high-performing commercial organization.

Education and Experience Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, Sales Management or related field is a plus.
  • Minimum of ten years in commercial sales leadership experience
  • Minimum of five years leading multi-location sales or distribution operations.

Preferred Education, Experience, and Skills:

  • Extensive knowledge of industrial distribution, fasteners, and the commercial markets served by the Company.
  • Proven record of profitable multi-location sales growth.
  • Strong understanding of branch operations, pricing strategies, margins, and P&L management.
  • Demonstrated success developing sales leaders and building leadership succession.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and strategic planning skills.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, coaching, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to analyze business performance data and translate information into actionable plans.
  • Strong business judgment, accountability, and decision-making skills.
