We are searching for the best talent to join our Orthopedic team as a VP Trauma, Extremities, CMFT and Animal Health (TECA) R&D in West Chester, PA.

Purpose:

The Vice President, TECA R&D is accountable for setting and executing the R&D vision and strategy for DePuy Synthes' trauma, extremities and CMFT procedural solutions, including their integration with enabling technology and biologics portfolios. This role drives differentiated innovation in human health by translating deep customer insights into high-impact solutions that deliver meaningful clinical, operational, and economic value. It also ensures these solutions are adapted for animal health applications, maximizing enterprise value for DePuy Synthes.

As a member of the DePuy Synthes R&D Leadership Team (RDLT), this leader is expected to operate with a strong enterprise R&D mindset-making decisions and taking actions that prioritize total R&D performance and overall company outcomes over individual function or franchise optimization. The role requires active stewardship of enterprise capabilities, resources, standards, and ways of working to accelerate speed, quality, and value creation across DePuy Synthes R&D.

The Vice President owns the end-to-end new product development lifecycle-from concept through launch and post-market support-and plays a critical role in evolving processes, operating models, and talent to strengthen execution excellence. The position leads globally distributed R&D teams, serves on the crossfunctional TECA platform leadership team, and reports to the SVP of DePuy Synthes R&D. The position also serves as a key interface point with our AO technical commission committee.

Define and communicate the TECA R&D vision and strategy, ensuring clear alignment with DePuy Synthes business priorities and enterprise R&D objectives.

Partner with DS stakeholders to help shape organic and inorganic technology and procedural integration direction, scenario planning, and longterm innovation strategies.

Shift from a mechanical product to a procedural innovation approach, and ultimately to a care pathway systems mindset that intentionally integrates technology and data insights at the right steps of the clinical workflow.

Balance and actively manage past, present, and future R&D horizons, allocating resources with urgency and discipline across the enterprise to optimize total R&D impact.

Provide strong oversight and influence to ensure effective execution of the TECA R&D strategy, with accountability for speed, quality, customer satisfaction and profitable growth.

  • Own TECA R&D performance against DS value creation metrics.
  • Share best practices, insights, and lessons learned across the RDLT and actively contribute to enterprise-wide continuous improvement initiatives to strengthen overall R&D speed, effectiveness and competitiveness.
  • Deploy modern tools (e.g. AI/ML based) to automate algorithmic R&D tasks, e.g. design control, change control to avail more time allocation to creative value-generating R&D design & development activities

  • Represent TECA R&D on enterprise management forums, operating boards, business planning committees, innovation councils, and the DS R&D Leadership Team.

Qualifications / Requirements:

Required:

  • At least a Bachelor's Degree
  • 15 years in MedTech R&D with at least 3 years' experience relevant to TECA R&D
  • PMA / Class III Medical Devices experience, Orthopedic Med Tech experience required. Orthopedic Med Tech industry knowledge required.
  • Must have demonstrated track record in aR&D/Platform leadership position within a large scale, globalorganization.
  • Strong talent management credentials with at least 10 years' experience in organizational and talentdevelopment.
  • Expert at achieving strong results in an orthopedic division or company by leading through influence and deep collaboration across the franchise andenterprise.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills and ability to build and maintain relationships at all levels in the organization and with externalcustomers and regulatoryagencies.
  • Meaningful experience in strong execution of product launches with emphasis on Design to Excellence and Design to Value principles. Measurabletrack record of creating value through newinnovations
  • Ability to shape/ lead product portfolio with a strong record of leadership in enriching the innovationpipeline.
  • 30% travel including domestic and international
