Job Description:

The Powder Coating Operator is responsible for preparing, coating, curing, and inspecting metal components and finished products according to production schedules, quality standards, and customer specifications. This role requires attention to detail, the ability to operate powder coating equipment safely and effectively, and a strong commitment to quality and workplace safety. The Powder Coating Operator works independently and collaboratively to ensure products meet company standards while maintaining efficiency in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare parts and materials for powder coating by cleaning, masking, sanding, and hanging components as required
  • Operate powder coating equipment, spray guns, curing ovens, and related tools safely and effectively
  • Apply powder coatings evenly and accurately to meet product specifications and quality standards
  • Monitor coating thickness, coverage, and finish quality using measuring tools and visual inspection techniques
  • Inspect finished products for defects, imperfections, and compliance with customer and company standards
  • Perform touch-ups, rework, or corrective actions when necessary
  • Maintain proper oven temperatures, curing times, and coating application settings
  • Identify and report defective materials, equipment malfunctions, or production issues to the supervisor
  • Maintain accurate production, inspection, and quality documentation
  • Assist with loading, unloading, and moving materials throughout the production process
  • Use hand tools, measuring devices, and material handling equipment safely and effectively
  • Demonstrate knowledge of powder coating techniques, materials, and application processes
  • Ensure compliance with quality control principles and production standards
  • Maintain awareness of workplace safety hazards and properly use personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Perform routine cleaning and preventive maintenance on powder coating equipment and work areas
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area in compliance with 5S standards

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

Pre-employment Qualifications: Pass pre-employment drug screen, acceptable background check results including criminal history.

Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or equivalent required. Previous experience in powder coating, painting, manufacturing, or industrial finishing preferred. Experience operating powder coating systems, curing ovens, or related manufacturing equipment preferred.

Language Skills: Individuals must have good written and oral communication skills.

Reasoning Ability: Strong attention to detail required. Ability to follow work instructions, production schedules, and quality standards while working independently with limited supervision.

Computer Knowledge and Skills: Basic computer skills preferred for production tracking and documentation. Ability to read and interpret work instructions, technical specifications, and production documents.
