The Role
The VP, Head of Storage Technology is responsible for the engineering, product management and operational availability of critical storage systems within the Fidelity environment. This environment enables all Fidelity applications and databases running in our on premises, private cloud environments and enables interoperability with our public cloud-based applications as well. We are seeking a technical leader to architect and oversee our enterprise-wide storage strategy. You will be the authority on hybrid cloud storage, balancing performance, cost, and compliance across on-premises environments and public cloud providers. You will champion the evolution of our block, file, and object storage capabilities, ensuring seamless data mobility and high availability.
The Expertise and Skills You Bring
  • Storage Strategy: Define and execute the roadmap for integrating on-premises enterprise storage arrays with software defined and cloud-native storage services.
  • Storage Engineering & Operations: Experience in overseeing technology for Block, File, Object and Backup/Recovery products, including software defined storage solutions, in an enterprise environment
  • Data Lifecycle Management: Implement automated tiering policies to optimize costs without sacrificing performance.
  • Scalability & Performance: Architect low-latency block storage for mission-critical databases and scalable file systems for distributed workloads.
  • Operational Excellence: Crisis and problem management skills, Experience in supporting enterprise mission critical environments
  • Economics: Provide a comprehensive model to improve, monitor and control storage-related efficiency and consumption
  • Team Management: Oversight of a team of 50+ storage and software engineers around the globe
  • Business Interface and Product leadership: Directly interacting with technology business partners and managing expectations, good interpersonal and team skills across all organization levels and multiple organizations
  • Security & Compliance: Ensure data protection, encryption, and regulatory adherence across all hybrid environments.
  • 10-15+ years' experience in IT across a broad range of technologies, with 5-10 years specific experience in working in server and storage infrastructure technologies
  • Expertise in Object (S3/Blob/CAS), Block (NVMe/SAN/iSCSI), and File (NFS/SMB/Parallel) storage protocols and backup/recovery products (CDP, snapshots, cloud-native, on-prem traditional).
  • Proven experience in large-scale data migrations from legacy hardware to software defined storage in a private/public/hybrid cloud.
  • Strong understanding of network storage performance (latency, throughput, bandwidth management)
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible) in a storage context.
  • Ability to manage stakeholder expectations in high-stakes infrastructure projects.

Fidelity's Onsite Working Model
Fidelity is transitioning to a full-time onsite working model through a phased rollout across regions and roles. Currently, some roles and locations require 100% onsite presence, while others require less. Onsite expectations are likely to evolve as the rollout continues. This transition does not apply to fully remote roles.
