Overview

The position is a key leader in Corporate Strategy team reporting to the SVP, Corporate Strategy & Development and integral leader in coordinating and managing the firm’s corporate strategic planning process, corporate strategy projects, as well as lead our competitive intelligence and management reporting teams.

• Leading the firm-wide annual strategic planning cycle, including the annual refresh of the long-term corporate strategic plan, which requires facilitation of executive strategic planning sessions and working groups, strong cross-enterprise consensus building and communications/presentation development, project management, and ability to articulate strategic concepts to a broad range of business partners

• Serve as the leader on corporate-level strategic projects/questions, including support for Board and executive meetings.

• Guide the competitive intelligence function for the firm to deliver timely, actionable and relevant analysis on the competitive landscape and industry trends

• Foster strong relationships with our regulatory, risk, and audit partners, including active participation in periodic meetings and exams and discussing regulatory components of Corporate Strategy reporting analysis

Qualifications
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in corporate strategy with extensive experience in research, strategy and consulting.
  • Proven success managing/leading a team of both business strategy and development professionals with significant experience in financial services.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and execute strategic plans across a geographically dispersed organization.
  • Experience operating in a complex, matrix management environment.
  • Outstanding communications and presentation skills, including comfort with very senior and/or large audiences
  • Courageous leader who develops followership and builds high-performing, diverse, cross-functional work teams of both direct and not direct team members rallied around the strategy.
  • Exceptionally client need focused; intellectually curious and knowledgeable about financial services.
  • Thrives on initiating, building, and cultivating strong authentic relationships inside and outside the group; highly collaborative; navigates and activates alignment across organizational silos. Especially important to do so with senior executives as this role is regularly involved with EVP level presentations and decision making meetings.
  • Results oriented leader who takes the initiative and effectively distills strategy, analytics, and varied sets of input to drive to decisions and follow through to execution.
  • Experience consulting with all levels of management and working collaboratively with various groups within the enterprise with potentially disparate objectives.
  • Inspirational leader who will stand up for brave ideas and take smart risks; executing with the right combination of urgency and analysis and prioritizing ruthlessly making tough choices when necessary.
  • Experienced in effectively assessing, selecting and developing talent for the firm adept at providing balanced, direct and actionable feedback to employees. Experience managing multiple priorities and overseeing distinct teams with varied strengths.
  • Strong emotional intelligence/maturity and senior level executive presence.
  • Bachelor’s degree and an MBA or equivalent experience.
