POSITION SUMMARY:

The Vice President, Wealth & Private Banking is responsible for the strategic leadership, growth, integration, and operational excellence of Meritrustโ€™s Wealth Management Private Banking programs. This role ensures a unified strategy across Wealth Management and Private Banking to deepen member relationships, expand wallet share, and deliver an elevated member journey for those households meeting the programsโ€™ criteria.

The Vice President, Wealth & Private Banking leads strategic growth initiatives, oversees regulatory and supervisory requirements, develops talent across wealth management and private banking teams, strengthens brand presence, and drives enterprise wide integration. This individual partners closely with Executive Leadership, Retail, Lending, Marketing, Risk, Compliance, and LPL Financial to deliver a cohesive, member centered wealth experience combining deposits, lending, planning, investment management, and advisory solutions.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Strategic Growth & Enterprise Alignment

  • Develop and execute the strategic plan for Wealth Management and Private Banking.
  • Align Private Banking with Wealth Management for a unified member experience on shared households and joint planning opportunities.
  • Establish targets for production, recurring revenue, AUM, loan growth, and internal referrals.
  • Position Wealth and Private Banking as core contributors to the credit unionโ€™s long term growth strategy.
  • Ensure operational plans align with enterprise goals.

Financial & Operational Leadership

  • Prepare and manage the annual operating budget.
  • Oversee daily, monthly, and annual production reporting.
  • Lead planning, implementation, and execution of the Wealth Management and Private Banking business plans.
  • Monitor Advisor and Private Banker business plans to ensure performance and accountability.

Talent Development & Leadership

  • Recruit, develop, and retain high performing Financial Advisors, Private Bankers, and support staff.
  • Coach team members in individual business planning and member engagement strategies.
  • Conduct performance reviews, goal setting sessions, and accountability meetings.
  • Identify training needs and support professional development.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, excellence, and member advocacy.

Member Experience & Service Excellence

  • Ensure consistent delivery of exceptional service throughout the Wealth Management and Private Banking member journeys.
  • Design and implement service models tailored to affluent and high net worth members.
  • Partner with Retail and Lending to deepen member relationships.
  • Lead escalated issue resolution in partnership with Compliance and broker dealer partners.
  • Promote a fiduciary centered, consultative approach to guidance and planning.

Compliance, Risk & Governance

  • Ensure adherence to all Credit Union, broker dealer, FINRA, SEC, insurance, and regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee supervision of registered representatives under LPL Financial standards.
  • Partner with Compliance on complaints, audits, errors, and supervisory reviews.
  • Complete all required regulatory and annual compliance training (BSA, AML, OFAC).
  • Uphold confidentiality and ethical practices.

Marketing, Branding & Business Development

  • Collaborate with Marketing on strategic campaigns aligned with business objectives.
  • Strengthen the Meritrustโ€™s Wealth Management and Private brand presence and market positioning in all markets.
  • Promote educational programming and thought leadership initiatives.
  • Build community and professional referral networks.

General Accountabilities

  • Model Meritrustโ€™s Mission, Purpose and Core Values through leadership and decision making.
  • Partners functionally to support enterprise initiatives.
  • Protect confidential member information and uphold the highest ethical standards.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Education/Certification:ย ย ย ย ย ย 

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree required.ย 
  • Certified Financial Planner (CFPยฎ) designation preferred.ย 
  • Series 7 and series 65 or 66 are required.ย 
  • Series 24 preferred.ย 
  • Life, Health, and Accident insurance license required.

Required Knowledge:ย 

  • Strong understanding of financial planning, investment advisory platforms, and credit union operations.ย 
  • Knowledge of securities regulations, insurance requirements, and broker dealer supervisory expectations.ย 
  • Understanding of integrating lending, deposits, and advisory services into a cohesive member strategy.ย 
  • Familiarity with compliance frameworks including FINRA, SEC, BSA/AML, OFAC, and LPL supervisory systems.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum five years of revenue generating experience in the securities and insurance industries.
  • Minimum three years of leadership or management experience.
  • Demonstrated success leading high performing advisory teams.
  • Experience developing and executing strategic business plans.
  • Experience managing integrated service models (lending, deposits, advisory) preferred.
