Position Overview

The Workhorse Group is seeking an experienced, highly connected Vice President of Sales to lead the growth of our expanding candle business. In this executive leadership role, you will develop and execute our national sales strategy, expand relationships with major retailers, distributors, and key accounts, and drive significant revenue growth across North America.

This is not a traditional sales management position. We're looking for an entrepreneurial sales leader with existing relationships, a passion for winning new business, and the desire to build something meaningful.

If you're someone who thrives on creating opportunities, opening doors, and being rewarded for your success, we'd love to talk.

We are looking for someone with "skin in the game". A leader who thinks like an owner, is motivated by results, and wants to directly benefit from the growth they create. This role offers significant earning potential through a competitive base salary and an aggressive performance-based commission structure with no artificial ceiling.

If you already know the buyers, understand the industry, and have the drive to grow a business, this is an opportunity to make a lasting impact.

The ideal candidate has significant experience within the candle, home fragrance, or consumer packaged goods (CPG) industry and a proven history of opening new retail accounts while growing long-term strategic partnerships.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute the company's national sales strategy.
  • Drive profitable revenue growth across all sales channels.
  • Leverage existing industry relationships to open new retail partnerships.
  • Maintain and grow relationships with major retailers including Walmart, Target, Costco, Sam's Club, TJX/HomeGoods, Hobby Lobby, Kroger, Michaels, Kohl's, and other grocery and specialty retailers.

  • Partner with Product Development, Sourcing, Operations, Marketing, and Executive Leadership to bring innovative products to market.
  • Provide market intelligence, competitive insights, pricing recommendations, and sales forecasts.
  • Represent The Workhorse Group at customer meetings, trade shows, and industry events.
  • Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 810+ years of progressive sales leadership experience.
  • 5+ years in the candle, home fragrance, or CPG industry.
  • Existing relationships with major retail buyers and decisionmakers.
  • Demonstrated success selling to national retailers and opening new accounts.
  • Strong negotiation, presentation, and relationshipbuilding skills.
  • Selfmotivated with an entrepreneurial mindset and passion for business development.
  • Willingness to travel approximately 3050%.
  • Preferred Experience
  • Mass retail and specialty retail channels.
  • Trade show experience (Atlanta Market, Las Vegas Market, ECRM).
  • Experience selling to Walmart, Target, Costco, TJX, Hobby Lobby, Michaels, Kroger, and similar retailers.
  • Leadership Competencies
  • Strategic and entrepreneurial mindset.
  • Exceptional networking and relationshipbuilding skills.
  • Collaborative leadership style.
  • Strong business acumen and analytical skills.
  • Resultsdriven with a bias toward execution.
  • Ability to build trust with customers and internal teams.
  • Passion for growing brands and developing longterm customer partnerships.
  • Why Join The Workhorse Group?

This is an opportunity to do more than manage an existing book of business. You'll help shape the future of a growing brand.

You'll have the autonomy to build new customer relationships, influence product strategy, and play a critical role in expanding our presence across North America. We are looking for someone who wants to make an impact, shares in the success they create, and is excited by the challenge of building something exceptional.
