Position Overview
The Senior Vice President (SVP) of Publicity at Legendary Entertainment will oversee and drive the
publicity strategy and execution across film, television, gaming, and brand. This executive role
requires an experienced leader who can craft comprehensive publicity campaigns, foster influential
media relationships, innovate across the field, and inspire a team of professionals. Reporting directly
to the Chief Marketing & Commercial Officer, the SVP of Publicity will be integral to amplifying the
reach and impact of our content across diverse audiences and media platforms.
This role demands a forward-thinking leader with expertise in leveraging social media to maximize
audience engagement and ensure the most significant impact across platforms. The ideal candidate
will have a deep understanding of digital publicity trends and the ability to integrate social media
strategies seamlessly within broader publicity campaigns. They must possess the vision and
adaptability to pursue aggressive growth in an evolving entertainment landscape, responding
strategically to shifting market dynamics and audience behaviors.
Key Responsibilities
  • Publicity Strategy & Leadership: Develop, lead, and execute integrated publicity campaigns across film, television, gaming, and brand, ensuring each project capture maximum audience attention and media coverage. This includes optimizing resources to enhance the impact of social media-driven publicity efforts.
  • Media & Digital Engagement: Cultivate and sustain deep relationships with entertainment reporters, critics, bloggers, influencers, and industry leaders while strategically incorporating social media engagement to amplify campaign reach and audience interaction.
  • Social Media & Digital Strategy: Ensure all campaigns include a strong digital component, working closely with marketing and social teams to drive impactful engagement across social platforms. Leverage emerging trends to enhance storytelling and increase viral potential.
  • Adaptive Strategic Growth: Apply a high level of strategic thinking to respond to the expanding business needs of the company, crafting innovative publicity approaches that align with evolving audience behaviors and media consumption patterns.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with marketing, distribution, and creative teams to synchronize publicity efforts with broader promotional and release strategies, ensuring social media is fully integrated into all publicity initiatives.
  • Event Oversight: Spearhead high-profile publicity events, including film premieres, red carpet events, award campaigns, film festivals, and television upfronts to maximize visibility and audience excitement. Ensure digital amplification of events to extend their reach.
  • Strategic Partnerships & Industry Networking: Forge strong connections with talent agencies, production companies, publicists, influencers, and industry leaders to enhance project reach and brand visibility across multiple entertainment spheres, particularly in the digital space.
  • Team Leadership & Development: Inspire, mentor, and develop a team of publicity professionals, fostering a culture of creativity, accountability, and excellence while ensuring the team is equipped to navigate the evolving landscape of digital publicity.
  • Crisis & Reputation Management: Support crisis communication efforts with a proactive approach that considers both traditional media and social media narratives, ensuring brand integrity and audience trust.

Requirements
  • 15+ years of experience in publicity or public relations, with a proven track record at the senior leadership level in film and television.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute publicity strategies that effectively incorporate social media and digital engagement.
  • Experience driving aggressive growth strategies in a rapidly changing media and entertainment landscape.
  • Strong existing relationships within the entertainment media landscape, including established contacts across film and TV journalism.
  • Exceptional crisis management skills, with the ability to navigate complex public relations issues professionally.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to influence internal and external audiences and craft compelling stories.
  • A passion for entertainment and a deep understanding of industry trends, audience behavior, and emerging publicity strategies.
