POSITION SUMMARY:
Reporting to the COO, the VP of Procurement is a newly elevated executive role responsible for the full scope of Magellan Jets' procurement strategy, from aircraft sourcing and operator contracting to vendor management, technology procurement, and corporate spend. This leader will shape the systems, processes, and team required to support a rapidly scaling private aviation business while protecting the financial integrity and service quality that define the Magellan Jets brand. The VP of Procurement holds a seat on Magellan Jets' Senior Leadership Team (SLT); a distinction that reflects both the strategic importance of this function and the expectation that this leader will contribute meaningfully beyond the boundaries of Procurement. As an SLT member, the VP of Procurement is a visible, active voice in shaping the company's direction, culture, and growth.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Define and execute an enterprise procurement strategy aligned with Magellan Jets' asset- light model, growth objectives, and premium client experience standards
  • Oversee all procurement categories: aviation operator contracts, catering and concierge services, ground transportation partners, technology vendors, facilities, and corporate
  • Spend Lead, mentor, and scale a high-performing procurement team including the Senior Director of Sourcing and supporting staff
  • Drive strategic sourcing initiatives that maximize value, reduce risk, and improve Magellan Jets' competitive positioning without compromising safety or service standard
  • Serve as a full member of the Magellan Jets Senior Leadership Team, contributing to company-wide strategy, culture, and decision-making beyond the Procurement function
  • Build and govern the Magellan Jets Preferred Network framework - the curated, rigorously audited roster of aircraft operators and crew partners that powers every client flight
  • Establish procurement governance, policy, and controls that support Magellan's commitment to full segregation of client funds and operational integrity
  • Partner with Finance to develop spend analytics, savings pipelines, and procurement KPIs reported to C-suite leadership
  • Lead contract lifecycle management across all major vendor relationships, including multi-year strategic agreements
  • Collaborate closely with the CTO to evaluate and procure aviation technology platforms, including Magellan's AI-powered operations stack
  • Represent Procurement in executive leadership forums, board updates, and investor discussions as needed
  • Evaluate build vs. buy vs. partner decisions for new service capabilities (e.g., Fractional Ownership, Magellan Business expansion, international routing)

COMPETENCIES:
Knowledge & Education:
  • Bachelor's degree required in Business, Supply Chain Management, Aviation Management, Finance, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree strongly preferred
  • 15+ years of progressive procurement and supply chain leadership, including 5+ years at the VP or equivalent executive level
  • Comprehensive knowledge of enterprise procurement strategy across both direct and indirect spend categorie
  • Familiarity with aviation-specific regulatory environments including FAA Part 135 operations, IS-BAO/ARGUS/Wyvern safety audit standards, and aviation insurance framework
  • Strong financial acumen - understanding of P&L dynamics, spend analytics, cost modeling, and how procurement strategy intersects with company financial performanc
  • Knowledge of emerging aviation technology platforms and AI-driven operational tools relevant to private aviation

MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performance Management:
    • Conduct regular 1:1 meetings with direct reports
    • Facilitate quarterly reviews (four per year)
    • Collaborate with team members to establish OKRs aligned with business goals
    • Provide coaching, development, and continuous feedback
    • Document performance concerns and partner with HR or senior leadership as needed

Team Management:
    • Oversee daily team operations and ensure consistent coverage
    • Facilitate team meetings at least quarterly
    • Track and approve time-off and vacation requests

Onboarding & Training:
    • Partner with HR to hire and onboard top talent
    • Develop and oversee individualized training and transition plans for new hires

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
  • Location: Monday-Thursday onsite in Quincy, MA; remote on Fridays
  • Conditions: General office environment with moderate noise levels. Occasional travel to aircraft or client locations may be required.

The VP, Procurement role offers a competitive annual base salary of $190,000.00 to $215,000.00 + annual bonus. Final compensation is based on experience and location, and the position includes eligibility for Magellan Jets' comprehensive benefits package.
