  • Steak n Shake's Sr. Director Distribution & Logistics of Retail Division understands the company vision and mission and within that framework plays a critical role in overseeing and managing Distributors, Freight Vendors, products and services to Retailers purchasing retail products under the Steak n Shake and The Beef Tallow Company brands.
  • Department: Supply Chain
  • Reports to: Vice President of Supply Chain

  • ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Oversees and manages daily activities and supports key relationships with retail customers and third party retail and redistribution partners, freight carriers and all external parties that supply products or services.
  • Ensures ongoing continuous uninterrupted product supply to distribution centers and retailers.
  • Ensures compliance and fulfilment of all Steak n Shake and The Beef Tallow Company approved products.
  • Works closely with system supply chain team to monitor and manage inventory flow to maintain optimal stock levels while avoiding obsolete inventory.
  • Utilize data-driven insights to monitor key performance indicators such as on-time delivery, transportation costs, and warehouse productivity.
  • Works with internal teams to identify and present cost optimizing projects and meet defined goals.
  • Interacts with Research & Development, Quality Assurance, Marketing, Finance, and retail customers and senior executive leadership.
  • Works closely with Vice President to maintain contingency plans to mitigate risks, such as supply chain disruptions or emergencies.
  • Ensure business continuity through proactive planning and rapid response to challenges.
  • Works independently with minimal supervision. Drives projects and maintains high sense of urgency on identified projects, goals and any potential risk to distribution or any impact to retailer.
  • Return all emails and voice mails timely as required.
  • Deals with interruptions and successfully manages multiple projects and tasks consistently.
  • Maintains behaviors and actions consistent with the company's values and standards.
  • Continuously looking for ways to increase professional development.
  • Works additional hours as needed and responds to issues or risk of supply with high level of urgency.
  • Regular and punctual attendance, which includes working normal business hours that support the companies needs.
  • Performs other related duties as required and assigned.
  • Hybrid role and Travels as required, 30% of the time.

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's or MBA Degree or equivalent work experience.
  • 10-12 years of experience in MS Office suite.

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Master's Degree in Business, Logistics or Supply Chain.
  • 10-12 years of supply chain experience in a retail environment.
  • MS Access experience.
