Job description

Who are we hiring?

Sphere Studios is seeking experienced Compositors to support the delivery of high-frame rate, ultra-high-resolution visual content in spherical formats (full-dome, VR, 360/180). The role involves advanced compositing in Nuke and requires strong technical proficiency, problem-solving ability, and the capacity to work autonomously when required and also within a collaborative corporate environment.

This role will be instrumental in delivering 16K content for our media plane for feature films, live events/residencies, and corporate events.

What will you do?

  • Execute 2D, 2.5D and 3D compositing work in Nuke in line with defined technical templates and workflows.
  • Ensure deliverables comply with Sphere's standards for color accuracy, resolution and image quality.
  • Assist in the establishment and ongoing refinement of compositing pipelines, review processes and delivery protocols.
  • Collaborate with the Compositing Supervisor and cross-departmental teams to maintain consistent output across projects.
  • Diagnose and resolve issues such as synchronization errors, rolling shutter, parallax, compression artifacts and lens/camera distortions.
  • Manage multiple shots and priorities in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Operate autonomously when required, while also functioning effectively within a corporate production structure.
  • Provide exceptional experiences for our guests, partners, and team members, including by adhering to our appearance and presentation guidelines while on-site.

What do you need to succeed?

  • Demo reel showcasing VFX work experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of professional experience as a VFX Compositor in feature film, television or special-venue/large-format production.
  • Advanced proficiency in Nuke, including:
    • 2D compositing: keying, rotoscoping, CG integration, deep compositing and AOV workflows.
    • 3D compositing: working within Nuke's 3D environment to build spatially accurate composites.
  • Demonstrated experience with full-dome, VR, 360/180 or similar large-format spherical content workflows.
  • Strong technical understanding of ST Maps, image warping, color and coordinate space transformations, and camera/lens artifact correction.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex compositing and image pipeline issues.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with capability to handle multiple deliverables under tight deadlines.
  • Professional attitude, strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Adaptable and willing to learn new tools, techniques and workflows.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with After Effects, Fusion or other VFX compositing tools.
  • Background in photography or cinematography, including exposure, depth of field and lens optics.
  • Familiarity with color theory, visual composition and lighting fundamentals.
  • Interest in the development and adoption of emerging visual technologies.
