Position Summary
JRP is seeking an experienced Operations Manager to oversee day-to-day transportation operations across multiple markets while driving operational efficiency, customer service, and overall business performance. This leadership role partners closely with Dispatch, the DOT Compliance amp; Safety Manager, Fleet Manager, Sales, and Terminal Operations to ensure safe, efficient, and customer-focused service.
The Operations Manager is responsible for monitoring operational performance, developing reports and key performance indicators (KPIs), improving business processes, supporting driver and terminal performance, and ensuring operational consistency across all markets. This position requires frequent travel to terminals and operational locations, including occasional overnight stays.

Compensation Range
$70,000–$80,000 annually (based on experience)
Performance bonus opportunity based on individual and operational performance metrics.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead day-to-day transportation operations across assigned markets, ensuring safe, efficient, and customer-focused service delivery.
  • Partner with the DOT Compliance amp; Safety Manager to support fleet safety, regulatory compliance, and operational best practices.
  • Collaborate with Dispatch to optimize fleet utilization, driver productivity, route efficiency, and on-time performance.
  • Develop and analyze operational reports, dashboards, KPIs, and performance metrics to drive efficiency, improve customer service, and support leadership decision-making.
  • Identify opportunities to improve operational performance, reduce costs, and enhance customer satisfaction through data analysis and continuous process improvement.
  • Partner with the Fleet Manager to monitor fleet performance, analyze utilization and maintenance metrics, and improve equipment availability and operational efficiency.
  • Support recruiting, interviewing, onboarding, and performance development of drivers and operational personnel in partnership with Human Resources.
  • Coach and support Terminal Managers and operations teams through field observations, performance discussions, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with fuel terminals, third-party carriers, vendors, customers, and key business partners.
  • Support Sales by coordinating operational readiness for new customers, service expansions, and strategic growth initiatives.
  • Travel regularly to terminals and operating locations to conduct operational reviews, reinforce company standards, and support field teams.
  • Promote a culture of safety, accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement across all operational functions.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 3 years of transportation, fleet, logistics, or operations management experience preferred.
  • Experience leading drivers, dispatch, or transportation operations teams preferred.
  • Working knowledge of DOT regulations, FMCSA compliance, transportation operations, and fleet management principles.
  • Experience developing operational reports, KPIs, dashboards, and performance metrics.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret operational data and drive process improvements.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, coaching, and relationship-building skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel; experience with transportation management systems (TMS), ELD platforms, or fleet management software preferred.
  • Ability to travel frequently (up to 50%), including occasional overnight travel.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Must successfully pass pre-employment drug and alcohol screenings.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to work in both office and field environments, including terminals, fleet facilities, and customer locations.
  • Ability to stand, walk, climb, and conduct operational observations in varying weather and industrial conditions.
  • Ability to travel frequently by vehicle to support multiple operating locations.
  • Ability to use computers and mobile technology for reporting, data analysis, and communication.
