Job description

vAuto, the Inventory Management Solution within Cox Automotive, helps thousands of dealers nationwide manage their inventory, pricing, and merchandising decisions through data-driven software. Our Business Intelligence team plays a critical, customer-facing role in turning that data into clear insights dealers can act on every day. AI is central to how we work: we lean on AI heavily for product discovery and rapid prototyping so we can move faster from customer conversation to working concept, and we're continually exploring how AI can enhance the analytics experience we deliver to dealers.
As a Business Intelligence Analyst II at vAuto, you'll play a key customer-facing role in helping dealers unlock the value of their data. Your primary focus will be building dashboards and reports that vAuto customers rely on to run their business, while developing a deep understanding of the data models that feed those reports so you can effectively communicate with dealers about their needs. You'll partner directly with customers to translate their questions into clear, actionable insights, and you'll use AI heavily for product discovery and rapid prototyping, accelerating how quickly we can go from a dealer question to a working dashboard concept. You'll take on additional duties as assigned, contributing to our team's overall effectiveness.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
  • Build, maintain, and continuously improve dashboards and reports that help vAuto dealers make smarter inventory, pricing, appraisal, and operational decisions every day.
  • Partner directly with vAuto customers to understand their reporting needs, ask the right questions, and translate dealer requirements into clear, actionable data products.
  • Develop deep, end-to-end knowledge of the underlying data models, pipelines, and definitions that feed customer-facing reports and use that knowledge to confidently explain results, debug data questions, and guide customers through their data.
  • Leverage AI tools to accelerate product discovery, rapidly prototype new dashboard and reporting concepts, and shorten the cycle from customer conversation to delivered insight.
  • Partner with engineering, product, and data teams on platform and data migration work that strengthens the foundation of our customer-facing analytics.
  • Document data sources, business logic, and report definitions so customers and internal stakeholders have a clear, shared understanding of what the data represents and how it should be used.

WHO YOU ARE
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a related discipline and minimum 2 years of business intelligence, analytics, or reporting experience. The right candidate could also have a different combination, such as a master's degree and up to 2 years of experience; or 6 years of experience in a related field.
  • Hands-on experience writing SQL to query, join, and aggregate data from relational databases.
  • Experience building dashboards and reports in a business intelligence tool such as Power BI, Tableau, Looker, or similar.
  • Experience working with relational databases and/or cloud data warehouses (e.g., Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery, SQL Server).
  • Experience working in a customer-facing or stakeholder-facing role, gathering requirements and presenting data/findings.

Preferred
  • Experience working with automotive industry data, dealer software, or other industry-specific data platforms.
  • Hands-on experience using AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Claude, Copilot) for product discovery, rapid prototyping, or accelerating analytics work.
  • Experience with Snowflake, dbt, or other modern cloud data warehouse and transformation tools.
  • Experience supporting data and platform migration projects (e.g., legacy reporting platform to a modern BI stack, on-prem to cloud data warehouse).
  • Hands-on experience migrating dashboards/reports between BI platforms.
  • Experience translating business questions from non-technical users (e.g., dealers, sales, operations) into reports and data products.

USD 74,000.00 - 111,000.00 per year
Compensation:
Compensation includes a base salary in the range of $74,000.00 - $111,000.00. The base salary may vary within the anticipated base pay range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate's knowledge, skills, and abilities. Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include an incentive program.
Benefits:
The Company offers eligible employees the flexibility to take as much vacation with pay as they deem consistent with their duties, the company's needs, and its obligations; seven paid holidays throughout the calendar year; and up to 160 hours of paid wellness annually for their own wellness or that of family members. Employees are also eligible for additional paid time off in the form of bereavement leave, time off to vote, jury duty leave, volunteer time off, military leave, and parental leave.
