Job description

The Division of Dermatology at Vancouver Island Health Authority is seeking a Dermatologist in Duncan, BC. Dermatologic services on Vancouver Island are provided in Courtenay, Nanaimo, and Victoria. The patient population in the Cowichan Valley is diverse (approximately 75,000), with a focus on seniors and First Nations communities. The local medical community is close-knit and supportive, including five General Internists, with excellent general and plastic surgery services available.

This position offers teaching opportunities through an affiliation with the University of British Columbia’s Island Medical Program, including involvement with medical students, residents, and collaborations with the UV Psoriasis clinic and Victoria-based dermatologists, located about 45 minutes away.

Additional incentives under the Rural Subsidiary Agreement (subject to eligibility) include:

  • Recruitment Incentive: $10,000
  • Annual Retention Premium: $6,508.80
  • CME Funding: Years 3 & 4: $3,000 per year; after 4 years: $6,000 per year
