Job description

Carotek, a SunSource company, provides process equipment solutions for the industrial, commercial and municipal markets in North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Georgia and Virginia.  Carotek represents over 85 manufacturers as their process equipment distributor, representative, and repair center for pumps, blowers, heat exchangers, valves, instrumentation, IIoT, steam, hydronics and municipal products. www.carotek.com    

We're looking for an energetic, self-driven, mechanically inclined, team player to join the team in our Matthews, NC office.  The main responsibility of this position is to  support our customers, and account managers in the Valves Division.  
 
In this role, you will be responsible for: inputting orders, processing quotes, and providing outstanding service to our customers and support to the outside sales staff.  Assist customers by answering questions or resolving complex problems related to replacement of products, new equipment, packages or systems for the Valves Division.   This role serves as an application specialist for our Valve product lines, there is no outbound sales, it is primarily technical customer service and administrative work.
 
Answering telephone calls or responding to customer correspondence regarding technical questions on products or systems
Engaging in technical discussions to obtain applicable information to identify correct product needed and advising customer on substitution or modification of product when replacement is necessary
Selecting and specifying products based on customer application and design prerequisites
Conferring and corresponding with service technicians, service managers or manufacturers to resolve unusual or complex technical problems or refer highly complex problems to Manager
Supplying detailed product quotations by computing price, discount and shipping charges as required and within company guidelines
Informing customer of pricing, back orders, delivery, delayed shipments and/or any other problems related to the order process and provide tracking information
Obtaining purchase order number and/or credit card information from customer
Conferring with Accounting to research and resolve invoicing or credit discrepancies
Sell corporate products to industrial establishments over the telephone or through web-generated orders
Attending sales meetings or educational activities to stay up-to-date on the latest technical developments with the products...and more.
 
This is a full-time position, in-office, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.  
 
Required Education and Experience
Associate's Degree or equivalent from a two-year College or Technical school; or two to four years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  
 
Preferred Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree from a business or engineering related program
Working knowledge of valves, and/or electrical, pneumatics, mechanical assemblies, gauges, instrumentation, and/or a very strong mechanical aptitude;
Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical drawings, write reports and general business correspondence;  
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, commissions, proportions and percentages and the ability to convert standard measurement to metric;
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, etc.), Prophet 21.
