Job Summary
Leads and provides consultation to Nicklaus Children Health System (NCHS) in the clinical review, evaluation and procurement of products and leads multi-disciplinary teams to decrease product variation, utilization and costs through the development of consensus supply utilization programs and initiatives. Works closely with Critical Care and Post-Operative areas and teams representing all hospital sites to review contracts and assist with the value analysis process. Responsible for gathering information from clinicians, communicating and soliciting feedback from hospital personnel evaluating the quality of the products in review, and coordinating and assisting, as necessary, in the implementation and conversion of products. Responsible for acting as a resource for Supply Chain Managers, Clinical personnel, Executive Nursing and Surgery Leadership, and value analysis committees and external contracting/clinical committees.
Job Specific Duties
  • Manages the overall direction, coordination, implementation, execution, control, & completion of value analysis projects across NCHS ensuring consistency with NCHS' strategy, commitments, & goals.
  • Analyzes product research, outcomes data, and financial analyses to ensure that the hospital supply management activities optimize the delivery of cost effective quality healthcare.
  • Serves as a liaison between the Supply Chain department, Group Purchasing Organization, vendor community, hospital leaders, & medical staff to ensure cost-effective utilization of products/services.
  • Coordinates product evaluations and financial reviews to ensure all stakeholders are represented.
  • Drives the process by interacting with all appropriate department leaders to develop, coordinate, and integrate cost-management programs into departmental services.
  • Provides clinical and strategic expertise that facilitates supply expense management while continuously improving quality, safety, and satisfaction through clinical engagement.
  • Monitors all evaluation to ensure teams remain focused and standard evaluation process is maintained.
  • Reviews hospital benchmark reports in order to develop targeted areas for savings opportunities.
  • Acts as facilitator for value analysis committee and any sub teams.
  • Evaluates all kits and trays versus individual component parts for maximum cost-effectiveness. Evaluates the cost-effectiveness of "reusable" versus "disposable" products.
  • Ensures all trials and evaluations are unbiased and conducted in a professional manner.
  • Prepares agenda with team leaders for monthly Value Analysis Team (VAT) meeting.
  • Responsible for educating staff on new products, product conversions, product substitutions, appropriate use of products and reduction of variance across all departments of the organization.
  • Responsible for developing and facilitating product evaluations and validations in clinical areas by working closely with end-users.
  • Reviews and remains updated in clinical and operational evidence based literature.
  • Provides interactive model and proactively brings physicians into the product selection process, cost benefit, and clinical outcome discussions.
  • Partners with Finance and leaders to model financial impacts of proposed changes.
  • Collaborates with Risk Management on product recall management. Ensures all recalled items are identified.

Qualifications
Minimum Job Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree - BSN; A graduate of a state approved school of nursing
  • RN Licensure within the State of Florida or Multi-State Enhanced Nursing License Compact (eNLC) - maintain active and in good standing throughout employment
  • 3 years of working with leadership/management
  • 5 years of experience as a nurse in an acute care setting
  • Experience working with medical supplies, supply chain operations, or value and cost-benefit analysis
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Master's in nursing, business, or related field preferred.
  • Additional certifications highly preferred, i.e., Certified Value Analysis Healthcare Professional (CVAHP), CNOR (Certified Pre-Operative Nurse) or Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN).
  • Pediatric experience in comparable setting preferred.
  • Experience with GPO programs and processes within healthcare.
  • Understanding of healthcare supply chain as it pertains to products, processes, Group Purchasing Organization (GPO) and supplier relationships, contracts, sales, and marketing.
  • Proven ability to lead and facilitate, share direction with others, and successfully execute a plan.
  • Proven track record of building and maintaining successful business relationships through excellence in customer service and meeting customer needs.
  • Competence in collecting data, analyzing it, and presenting actionable information.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Clear understanding and experience in value analysis processes and methodologies.
  • Expertise in understanding variances in clinical practice.
  • Excellent presentation, implementation, and follow up skills.
  • Ability to interact with senior executives, physician leaders, and clinicians to drive key business decisions.
