Job description

Forklift Operator

River Valley Holdings is a family-owned distribution company based in Syracuse, NY, serving retail customers across the northeastern United States. The River Valley family of companies; River Valley Foods, Cavallaro Foods, and Empire Valley distribute a wide range of specialty dry and frozen grocery items and consumable products from warehouses in Syracuse, NY.

The Forklift Operator plays a crucial role in ensuring the efficient and accurate handling of freight within the warehouse. This position involves scanning and placing freight in designated locations, adhering to safety guidelines, and maintaining the quality of stored goods.

Work Schedule:

  • Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday - 5am - 3:45pm

Wages:

  • $20.00 per hour

Key Responsibilities:

  • Arrive punctually for the scheduled shift and participate in the daily start-up meeting.
  • Conduct pre-operation inspections of equipment prior to use, including all aspects required in the daily inspection checklist.
  • Accurately put away freight and complete required and advanced letdowns daily.
  • Work efficiently and maintain the required productivity standards, including moves per hour.
  • Follow company and SQF guidelines when handling products, including addressing damaged cases discovered in the warehouse.
  • Wrap pallets as needed to ensure stability and examine them to ensure they are of sound quality for overhead storage.
  • Operate all equipment safely at all times and follow all traffic and pedestrian guidelines.
  • Perform additional duties as requested by the supervisor, including selecting, cleaning, shipping and sort/segregation of incoming product.

Key Competencies & Skills:

  • Proficiency in reading and understanding English to comprehend customer orders and supervisor instructions.
  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds.
  • Capability to stand and work on your feet for extended periods.
  • Skilled in operating RF guns accurately.
  • Competence in accurately putting away and replenishing freight.

Education & Experience:

  • Forklift experience preferred but not required
