Position Summary:
The Utility Pole Crew Member plays a vital role in the maintenance and safety process of wooden utility poles. This role contributes to the reliability, maintenance, and safety of utility infrastructure. The Utility Pole Crew Member requires hands-on work in various outdoor conditions and requires working with inspectors to develop all necessary skills and knowledge required for this role. Extensive travel locally, statewide, or regionally is required.
Job Description:
  • Adhere to strict safety protocol and standards set forth by the Company, contract, and governmental regulations.
  • Identify defects such as cracks, rot, pest damage, loose hardware or other issues that could affect the poles integrity and report findings promptly.
  • Ensure tools are properly maintained, calibrated and in good working condition.
  • Safely handle and use pesticides specific to company, government, and regulation standards.
  • Accept full responsibility for the safe operations and maintenance of all company vehicles, equipment, and tools.
  • Perform maintenance to utility poles as directed by the Inspector, Foreman, or supervisor.
  • Work as part of a crew and communicate effectively with other team members to ensure smooth operation.
  • Dig holes to required specifications.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Position Qualifications:
  • Possess a current and valid driver's license and a clean driving record with no DUI / DWIs within the past 5 years.
  • Must pass the pre-employment screening process including a criminal background check, drug test and motor vehicle records pull.
  • Must be willing to travel locally, statewide, or regionally as required.
  • Have the ability and mentality to work outdoors, in a physically demanding work environment and all-weather conditions. Lifting or moving up to 40lbs. and hiking on various terrain.
  • Demonstrate abilities to successfully complete job tasks while accepting full responsibility for the safe operations and maintenance of the vehicle, equipment, and tools.
  • A professional attitude that will positively represent the Alamon organization to clients and the communities in which they work.

Work Environment:
  • This position will work outdoors, year-round, in all weather conditions, and on varying terrain. May work for long periods in hot, cold, wet, windy, or icy conditions.
  • Exposure to dust, odors, gases, vapors, wet or slick surfaces, and loud noises is possible.
  • Must always wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in compliance with Company standards and governmental regulations.

Physical Demands:
  • This is a physically arduous position that requires working outside in a varying weather types and exposure to the elements.
  • This position requires hiking and standing for extended periods of time.
  • This position requires extensive digging.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 40lbs.

Travel Requirements:
  • This is a full-time traveling position that requires extensive travel where you will be on the road for five weeks at a time or longer.
  • Lodging and transportation are provided while working and traveling for the Company.
