Job Description:

Job Summary
Performs entry-level manual labor tasks to support the operations and maintenance of a veterans' cemetery, ensuring a respectful and well-maintained environment for interments and visitors.

The primary location for this position is 2617 Vinson, Highway, Milledgeville, GA 31061.
Job Responsibilities
* Assists with grave digging and backfilling operations, including operating light excavation equipment under supervision.
* Prepares grave sites for interments, including setting up grave markers, lowering devices, and other necessary equipment.
* Participates in grounds maintenance activities, such as mowing, trimming, edging, raking leaves, and general landscaping.
* Performs routine cleaning and maintenance of cemetery facilities, including restrooms, shelters, and administrative buildings.
* Assists with the placement and leveling of headstones and markers.
* Operates and maintains a variety of hand tools and power equipment, such as mowers, weed eaters, and blowers.
* Follows safety protocols and procedures for all tasks and equipment operation.
* May assist in setting up for ceremonies and special events.
* Reports equipment malfunctions or safety hazards to supervisors.
* Performs other duties as assigned to support cemetery operations.
Job Qualifications
* High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
* Ability to perform strenuous physical labor for extended periods in various weather conditions.
* Ability to lift and carry heavy objects (up to 50 pounds) unassisted.
* Basic understanding of and ability to safely operate hand tools and light power equipment (e.g., mowers, trimmers).
* Valid driver's license and a good driving record.
* Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
* Strong work ethic and attention to detail.
* Respectful and professional demeanor.
* Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
* Experience in groundskeeping, landscaping, or manual labor preferred but not required.

Minimum Qualifications:

High School Diploma or GED equivalent; AND six months of general labor work experience. Subject to random urinalysis. Must have a valid driver's license.
