Summary of Job Duties:The Extra Help Assistant- EHS Tech will assist the Director of Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) in maintaining campus compliance in general safety, fire safety, lab safety, recycling, and animal control. This position is governed by government regulations and agency/institution policy.
Qualifications:

Required Education and/or Experience:

    • The formal education equivalent of a high school diploma;

    • Must have basic computer skills and some experience with MS Word, Excel, and Access.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Routine Safety Systems Inspection and Repair to include but not limited to:

    • Fire Extinguishers, Emergency Lighting, Exit Signs, Smoke/Heat Detectors, UST Monitoring Wells, Eyewashes, Safety Showers, and other Building Devices;

    • Fire Systems Maintenance and Inspection;

    • Lamp Recycling;

    • Safety/General Equipment Inspection;

    • Animal Control;

    • Miscellaneous Trouble Calls/Fire Alarm Responses; and

    • Performs other duties as assigned.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

    • Two years of specialized training in electronics or related field;

    • Knowledge of operation, maintenance, and repair of electrical and mechanical equipment;

    • Ability to localize and repair mechanical or electrical problems;

    • Ability to test and monitor equipment functions;

Salary Information:

$11.00 - $19.00 hourly - Commensurate with education and experience.
